Can I take communion in an Anglican church even if I have not been confirmed?

I haven't been confirmed though I have been baptised and I see myself as mainly a non-denominational Christian. I know in a Catholic church it is a great sin to take communion before you have had your first holy communion but what about an Anglican church? I mean I am baptised into the Christian family.... just wondering what people thought. ------

Yes you can. In the Church of England, you do not have to even be an Anglican to receive Communion. You're right about the Catholic Church - it's different, and it's strictly prohibited to take it unless you've had your First Communion. I'm Catholic, but once when we were in the country on Sunday we missed the Catholic mass, so we went to the Anglican one. They were all very nice and we went and had communion and everything.The difference lies in what the Eucharist is viewed as. Catholics believe that it is sacred, and actually a part of Jesus himself, while Anglicans believe it is more a symbolic gesture. It's actually arguably one of the few things that stops the Catholic and Anglican Churches from joining together.Hope this helps ;-)Frederick ------

I'm not Anglican, but I know in most Protestant churches anyone can receive.But the reason you can't in the Catholic Church is because it is actually the body and blood of Christ, whereas in the Anglican church, and all other non-Catholic Christian churches, it is only a memorial and symbol of his sacrifice.St. Paul says that he who eats and drinks, failing to discern the body and blood of Christ, calls judgment upon himself. These are serious words and the Catholic Church teaches that those who are not properly prepared should not receive. It is for your protection, not to exclude you. ------

The Alglican church has what is called"Open Communion"- Open communion which means you can partake in Holy Community without being a members of the Anglican Church.You should know that the Bread&Wine represents Christ's last memorial supper though, and believe in Him. ------
