Yes. If the conservatives can't take over like they did in the RC church and demonize all the more liberal components of their own religion (like Notre Dame, and Jesuits) then they will just break apart. Schisms and strife do them well, while communion and connections only serve the ends of the liberals in Canterbury.

I think that it's already happened. It's a wonder that it was able to hold together for as long as it did. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2156406/Anglican-church-schism-declared-over-homosexuality.html
This is, of course, not the first time something of the kind happened. The Methodist Church was not originally seen as such, but a reformed version of Anglican worship. Perhaps the fact that a covenant was signed not long ago between the Anglican and Methodist Churches is a first stage towards their joining up again. http://www.anglican-methodist.org.uk/

There already is a schism that has developed which may never be repairable.

When peoples views are so entrenched and no one feels they can give an inch then we have a schism. I suppose we are there now.

Maybe it will be a good thing. The catholic church persecuted and stopped many different ways of worship ping Jesus. Ever since then groups have been breaking away following this or that prophet. We all know how Henry VIII broke away from the dominant church at that time.

I for one would support a "Jesus" church with less dogma.
