Default Should I research Asatru (Germanic Paganism) or Shinto (from Japan)?

I have to do a religion report...

I'm trying to decide which one.

Have you guys researched one of them? Interesting?

Shinto: http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Shinto/index.aspx
Yes, they are both very very different.

I have always loved Japan, but I find paganism quite fascinating.

They both have loads of information on their religion. And I find interest in both...pretty equally.

Both are fascinating, but the flexibility of Shinto, the type of animism it espouses, is more interesting to me, plus I have a soft spot for Kami-Samar and fox-Jami.

You'll have it easier to get information on Asatru, CZ most of us speak English.
I'm an Asatruar myself.

Asatru sounds fascinating. But people in general are more interested in Asian religions and i bet there are 1000s more articles on Shinto.. Which one would you like to know more about is the one to pick, tho. if you are interested then your report should be better.

Shinto has much more history and a wider span of beliefs to it. There's a lot more material available on it, too.

Shinto is indeed a widely followed religion, with much written about it. Which is precisely why you should write about Asatru! Asatru is recognized as an official religion in Iceland and Sweden, and is a growing religion here in the US. Last year, an Asatruar was even elected to public office in Queens, NY. There are no lack of Asatru groups you can contact, for a comprehensive view.
