Asatru/Heathenry question?

What happens to animals when they die?
Did the old Heathens have any beliefs about what happened to their pets (dogs) when they died?

The same thing that happens to everyone: they cease to exist. There is no evidence for any afterlife and the concept is quite irrational.

Celts believed that the same animals they knew in This Life would be with them in the Summer Lands in their Next Life.
I am not sure of the Norse traditions.

Whenever animals die their spirits go to the God and Goddess. Then later on they are reincarnated, but they may come back as a human. Well those are my beliefs sorry that Im not helpful!

I can't think of anywhere that its referenced other then inferences of grave goods.
