To go inside is the same act no matter which lord you follow.

It's just a matter of Being, rather than maintaining a lot of mental activity.

Just Be.

You are simply speaking of different ways of becoming quiet.

Methods might be different, but the goal is the same.

Meditation techniques ?

1. Witness your natural inhalation and exhalation.

2. Witness the flip between inhalation and exhalation.

3. Alternatively, let the thoughts flow and let the Self be a witness with choice less awareness, as if you are standing on a crossing and witnessing (not moving along with the traffic) the movement of thought traffic. Don?t suppress or fight or categorized thoughts as good and bad. Accept all noises and bodily distractions around you. Let it be, and be a witness! Meditate on Suchness, Thusness, This is so, Thathata etc.

4. Mind is linear and the thoughts manifest one after another. Thoughts emerge, rise and fall on the substratum of permanent awareness, which is different from thoughts. Observe and widen the gap between two thoughts.

5. Bring your attention (don?t turn your eye-balls inward) at third-eye (Ajya Chakra), between the eyebrows. Eyes closed and eyeballs fixed as if you are watching whole 180 degree wall around you from left to right i.e. looking nowhere.

When mastered, meditation (Samadhi) is natural state of mind with no mind, without any duality, where object of experience, experience and who is experiencing becomes one. This meditation is different from sleep, deep sleep, self-hypnotism, hypnotism, relaxation, concentration, hallucination and comma etc.

In advance stages, meditation happens 24 hours a day. What happens in meditation cannot be explained, because it is an experience beyond five senses. It is like explaining a color to a person, who is blind from birth.

But we get a flash of meditation when we observe a child who is totally engrossed with his toys and looses the concept of time, space and unit. Meditation is sleepless sleep.

The Norse magic, or shamanism, is usually called Seid, or Seidhr. I believe it was historically practiced exclusively by women. If men wanted to practice it, they had to dress in female clothes (even Odin did).
To be honest, I don't practice it so I don't have much info about it. I found you a couple of links, but I can't guarantee for their authenticity.

An extensive article about history and sources, describes origins and types of magic:

Another article on theory:

Here is a page with instructions for meditation and trance-work: http://altreligion.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ/Ya&sdn=altreligion&cdn=religion&tm=15&gps=137_193_ 1276_884&f=00&tt=14&bt=0&bts=0&zu=http%3A//www.ealdriht.org/trance2.html

A couple of likely-looking articles about practice. Again I don't know what's good and what isn't so be careful about how serious you take these sources:
