Default If you practice Asatru, is it okay to honor, not pray to or worship the JudeoChristen

I'm very torn, I'm a young man who recently converted to Asatru. I have made my profession and have been practicing for a little more that a year. My family is pseudo-christen, a line of my ancestors is Christen, but another line of my ancestors were devout heathens, some who practiced a strange mix of the Old Ways and Christianity. I had been told and by my own believes, think that I should Honor my ancestors, but does that mean respecting their God ? I ask here as their is no Gothi or Gythia near me and I am hesitant about talking to a Reverend.
@ Cher was here JPA, I mean no offense, and thank you for your words
@ Laekna thank you for your words as well
@ Mike H. you hit the nail on the head that was exactly what mean meant by honor
@Hicks1763 I mean that I shouldn't out right say your god is false and be a general jerk when my family is celebrating Christmas or other holidays, and I do not pray to Christ

You probably have to choose. Both sets of gods hated rivals. There's not many ways to SucreEttie.

Please don't call it a "rechristen" god. That makes no sense & creates problems for Judaism.

The Jewish God concept is unique from the Christian one. Judaism has faced a lot of persecution for those differences. So it'd be nice not to be lumped in inaccurately.

Along the same lines, I dint' know anything about Asatru, but respecting your parents & others is part of most religious creeds. You don't & shouldn't actively pray in a way that will make you feel conflicted, but you may want to put on a nice front just to keep peace in the family. That'd be my best advice from Judaism, but I don't know your beliefs enough to
give direct thoughts.

Thanks Tom, for your kind words too

I personally see no reason for you to be worried about it. (W)Odin never made any stand against other gods and I doubt he would find it a horribly unforgivable offense for you to honor another to keep your family ties strong.

Asatru is polytheism. It's okay to acknowledge the existence of other gods outside the Germanic pantheon. As I tell my Christian friends, sure I believe in Jesus... but he's NOT the only game in town.

If by honor you mean behaving respectfully while in a Christian church (sitting quietly and keeping your thoughts to yourself vs.heckling the reverend) then there is nothing wrong with that. Since you say "not pray to or worship" it seems to me you get the difference.

In Asatru, we worship our ancestors as well as our native Gods. As a professed Asatruar, I worship the Aesir and the Vanir. I hon our my ancestors and my relatives and respect their beliefs, without having to respect or hon our their god. I hail my christian forebears, but I will not hail their Christ.
