Is Mike Smith a good source of Info on Asatru?

I've heard from others here that he is a good resource.

(They don't pay this disabled vet enough to have DSL - seeing videos on dial-up sucks).

Added: I hit some notes I've made from others and they recommend him as a resource so probably at a 7-9.

I honestly lost my patience watching after a min. or so, cannot say how good he is, as for persons who have a difficult time to express themselves (IMHO) should have some Prue-planned notes/ topics etc. I got bored after a min. and lost interest. Then again, Im not Asatruar, so.... I guess wait & see what others post.

I agree with the poster above me. He's okay as a source, but I just don't have the steel nerves to sit through the stuttering.

I'd put him at about 7, this is due to his information being good but his presentation being a little under par.

I honestly think he should write a book rather than use video since he;'s clearly not very comfortable in front of the camera and his microphone leaves a lot to be desired, he does however evidently know his stuff and has clearly spent a lot of time researching (as any good Heathen should) and he does deal with some of the "hot topics" quite nicely citing his sources as well.

MIke is an excellent source, but if you cannot set through his presentation, I would suggest his books which are all free and available at:

I liked what he had to say, its just his voice was sending me to sleep. My public speaking is just as bad so I will not down him for that, overall a fair 9 (no one can have 10 unless they have a time machine).

Mike is an excellent source and has more knowledge than most of us will acquire...ever.


And I am not just saying this because he is my kinswoman's hubby and my friend.

He is well known in the NE and actually nationwide. He has been practicing for like 17 years I believe. One of my really good friends was kindred with his wife as well.
It's good information.

It can be drawn out but honestly most Asatru can be. I had to seriously force myself through Egil's Saga for instance. Another good verbal source is:

If you aren't really interested in it, then no it won't hold your attention. No one said all of Asatru was exciting Lil just necessary.

i looked over the web site Swain pointed out.

At an overview he looks rather credible.

I personally am going to read a book of his about being Asatruar in the modern world.


I give him an 8.
