Well, first, the obvious: the early Norse used candles and oil lamps when their electricity went out . . . wait . . . is 783 CE before Edison's time? *G*
There ARE things you can do. Although I'm not generally one to look for "woo woo" solutions to things (our gods like it when we just fix stuff ourselves) there are customary practices, like walking your property line with fire, marking its corners with hammer-inscribed (upside down T) border stones, hanging an iron Thorshammer (Ragweed Forge sells one) over your door, burying a snake in a glass or copper vessel under your front step, and setting out bowls of sparkly stuff (coins will do) to appease the hearth wights . . . essentially, things to place yourself within the proper balance with your surroundings and build Luck for your stead. Not miraculous, certainly, but over time, I can tell you that they DO help.
In the meantime, check your ground pole and complain to your electricity provider. ;-)
