Default Nordic Heathens,Asatru, and other forms of Heathens what do you think of this.?

Seems there was a group of Ku Klux Klansmen in Texas who heard that some Pagans were holding a ritual out in the woods somewhere. Having run out of other minorities to harass, they decided to get back to their roots and practice some religious bigotry in addition to the usual racial intolerance and break up the party with a good IL' cross-burning. [Note: in recent years, the Klan has tried to distance itself from its history of religious intolerance and claim that the organization's only concerns are racial. This is, of course, utter crap as the anti-Semitism of the Klan is well documented, as is their history of anti-Catholic violence in the early part of this century]

So anyway, these fellows loaded up some lumber and a couple of cans of gasoline and went out hunting for these Pagans they'd heard about, hoping to catch them dancing necked around a fire or something. They found the spot where the other vehicles were parked and donned their hoods. Grabbing the lumber and gasoline, they assembled a cross and strode off into the woods, confident that they'd scare any remaining pants off the fluffy bunny New Agers.

They were a little disconcerted to find themselves looking at the business end of at least 2 spears, a couple of swords, assorted knives, and more than one firearm. They'd crashed an Asatru blot, and didn't realize that not all Pagans are pacifists. From somewhere behind the hardware, a voice called out "If that cross goes up, you're getting nailed to it. I've got my hammer right here..."

The Klansmen left in a bit of a hurry, it's said.

this story was sent to me by a friend
people calm down i never said it was a true story I just thought it would be a funny one to share.
VictorianSpring you're attack is unwarranted and rather ignorant at that, when did I say it was true? and when did I say all pagans are fluffy bunnies? I don't know what your problem is but I do wish you the best of luck in fixing it. also most who fallow the old Germanic paths fall under the title Heathen. i do think you owe me an apology but in the end you have only harmed your self so maybe you should apologize to your self then me.

Good story, but I'll bet that's all it is.

It reminds me of the scene from Crocodile Dundee where he makes it look like the Kangaroos are firing back at the drunk, Australian version of Rednecks.

HAHA! I like this

I doubt it's true, but it would be great if it is. I hope some of those KKK morons do eventually stumble upon a Heathen gathering, we would teach them a thing or two

Pagans are pacifists? We are? Since when? News to me. Pagans are about balance, you screw with me and mine, I will screw you back. We believe in the balance of nature, natural instincts and protection of our own. I have no idea where you got the idea that Pagans are pacifists.

Secondly, IF the story were true you would be able to find various news organizations, especially those in Texas who would have run this story. Even if it were just a blurb. Do a go ogle search, you won't find any. What you will find are a ton of "pagan" sites that have reprinted the story. With no reference to any legitimate news organization that reported or investigated the story.

Now in theory, had this been true; it very well could have turned out the way the story depicts. Especially when talking about the Norse paths. But keep in mind, not all traditions of paganism are calm peaceful loving fluff bunnies. Most Celtic and Germanic traditions hold a similar approach to life and justice as the Norse do.

There have been situations like this that truly have occurred between Pagans who are practicing their faith and some group (typically fundamentalist Christians) attempt to disrupt the proceedings. Now those you can find stories about from legitimate sources. There were several that occurred around the country last October/November during our Samhain celebrations.

Just check your facts and stories first. If they're legit they're worth sharing. If they're not, then it only makes us Pagans look uninformed and more distrusting than we really are. In other words, it gives us all a bad name.
