I know someone who is into Asatru and that friend is a bisexual, so I don't think they have negative views on homosexual activity. Not sure about the Wicca question though. Good luck!

"Use Wicca"? I am not understanding the question here......

Best article I've seen on homosexuality and the North men:
http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/gayvik.shtml
The article is too long and I'm not risking copyright infringement. If you want an answer from a Heathen, be prepared to read. We cite out our sources usually.

I'll check back on the "use the Wiccan" thing.....o0

edit: No Wicca and Asatru began in two different places at two different times and evolved completely separately. They are not off shoots at all.

Seems to me that Wicca is an offshoot of the religion. Their views on homosexuality would probably be up to the individual practitioner of the pagan rites belonging to those of "the old way".
They've only been around for about forty years as "Asatru", but the Nordic gods have been around for thousands of years, they've only just reinvented the rites and practices of this pagan and heathen's religion.

I started in the Wiccan religion, but found that I was called by Odin to follow the Northern ways. Most of the beliefs are very similar to Asatru. But, not as cohesive perhaps as a group.

My personal view on homosexuality, is there must be a reason a person is born to be a certain way. I don't think being "Gay" is a detriment. Some believe to Homosexual means to be more in touch with the other sex.

If you read about Odin, did he not learn the ways of Seid (Female Magic) from Freya? That was a gutsy thing to do for a strong male god.

I think the negative stereotype of homosexuality is from the Christian right and Neo-Nazis pretending to be Asatru.

Pesonally, if a person lives a good life then only the gods can judge.

Well from my perspective ?satr? and Wicca are kind of like distant cousins. There is a vague familiarly relationship (?satr? coming from the Germanic tribes and Wicca being, in it's strictest form, based on the beliefs of the Celtic tribes, both European) but still many significant differences.

One fundamental principle of ?satr? comes from the translation of it's name, faith in or LOYALTY to the Aesir. This means for an ?satr?ar especially a recon, the very idea of incorporating a "foreign" ideology such as those found in Wicca into our practice is abhorrent. Personally, while I take a relatively loose modernist approach to ?satr? I do not support synergism with any other faith regardless of how similar it may be, usually both groups suffer as a result of mix and match. While many Wiccans use influences from ?satr?, including our deities you'll be hard pressed to find us using theirs.

Regarding homosexuality most of us couldn't care less about the sexual orientation of anyone ?satr?ar or not especially since the neccessity to reproduce at all costs is virtually gone in our modern society so too is the need for enforced male female relationships. Besides that, if love is blind then it shouldn't care about gender now should it.

However, there are some groups within the larger Heathen community who do not accept homosexual members into their midst but generally do not mind otherwise and similarly there are some neo-nazi pretenders who make a big fuss about it as well but thankfully we're not all like them.

Some Heathens frown highly on Heathens who also work in other traditions; others do not. My own take is that one culture, religion and pantheon are enough to keep me plenty busy. Heathen views on homosexuality run the gamut. Some want nothing to do with gay people; others are themselves gay, or have gay/bisexual people in their kind reds. I myself am gay but usually don't make any big deal about it. I've written on the subject; if interested please email me at cordovan at earth link dot net
