Depends on what you are looking for. If you want information on Norse mythology, there are a number of sites. If you are looking for 'organized' groups, try go ogling 'Ring of Troth'. If you want information on runes, there are a number of good sites out there as well.

If you would like to email me privately with a little more detail, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. I am leaving for Germany on Saturday, however, so if I don't hear from you tomorrow, it will take a week or so to get back to you.

Hey, HP - I got 3 books from Amazon so far this month and 3 from a thrift store. You'd love one of them: Book of Lists of the Marine Corps - youngest, famous, etc.

Icelandic Sagas
Volsunga Saga (My all time fave. Dragons and murder and betrayal oh my!)
Gods and Myths of Northern Europe and Myths and Symbols of Pagan Europe both by HR Ellis Davidson

Excellent recommendations so far.

I want to strongly second staying away from Conway's "Norse Magick." If you have an interest in rune lore, avoid anything from Ralph Blum or Donald Tyson. Basic rule of thumb for rune materials, if it promotes or advocates a "blank" rune, leave it on the shelf.

On the historic side, I also recommend HR Ellis Davidson's "The Road to Hel." It is an excellent overview of Germanic burial practices and what these indicate regarding beliefs surrounding the afterlife. It is difficult to find, but there are a couple electronic editions out there.

Actually, any of Ellis-Davidson's works are well worth reading.

The Icelandic sagas, Snorri's "Heimskringla," Saxo Grammaticus' "History of the Danes" and Tacitus's "Germania" are also pretty much essential reading.

There is no end to the reading. Once you've familiarized yourself with a good overview of modern Asatru and the stories of the gods (Turville-Peters offers a good modern retelling), I really recommend getting into both Eddas as primary sources and moving on from there.

You'll soon discover why Asatru is often referred to as "the religion with homework."
