Default Do any Asatru out there actually follow Loki as a Principle God?

I mean like some follow Odin, some follow Thor, etc....

For personal reasons I don't consider myself Asatru, but Loki is my primary Patron. You'll hear a lot of Asatru say that He shouldn't be worshiped and say things like the ancestors never worshiped Him, that He shouldn't even be considered a God, etc. Myself and many others, a few of them prominent people in the Heathen community, believe otherwise.

Granted Loki isn't for everyone but I wish some people would develop a more "live and let live" approach.

I am not Asatru, but I am a heathen, Loki is my primary Deity, he is the Northern deity I have had the most UPG experience with...he comes even when I don't call, and hands me blank checks, but he does exact his price. He is not an easy God to work with, but he is the blood brother of Odin, a chosen kinship by the All Father, and Loki should always be welcome in his hall...

Heathen of 14+ years. Not personally. I have raised a drinking horn to him after a very chaotic bout with my creative streak that was fairly twisted but productive.

I don't see him honored very often at gatherings, those that have were..... well, "fluffy" isn't the right word but they weren't taken serious as heathens. No offense to those here, I follow your answers and agree 99% of the time and believe that you are serious about the religion. Just saying these idiots were flakes and drifted from heathenism into Cthulhu the next year, one became an Orthodox Jew.

I don't see you guys doing that - LOL

Yes there are....which of course leads to the whole argument on whether Loki was considered a god at all.

Whole different thread.

I "follow" all the gods and see no need to oath myself to any of them. They know where my loyalty lies. My life will and does change and if the gods wish to speak to me they will. If I want something I usually go to the ancestors. They have a vested interest in me. I honor the gods and RARELY ask for their help. After all, you never know what version of "help" they are going to give. I'll stick to family LOL

there was a slightly less than serious cult of Loki at one point which I believe has been revived and given more credibility. (see link in sources)

The definition of a "God" in Norse myth isn't especially clear, for example you can accurately describe any number of Jotun as Gods, you can also describe the Alfar as Gods too, in fact some people believe that the Vanir Gods themselves are Alfar due to many references in the Eddas and other sources which name the deities as "the Aesir and all the Elves".

By any description Loki is a God, he is a member of the Aesir clan and blood brother to Odin. Without Loki, Odin would not have his steed Sleipnir, Thor would not have his hammer Mjolnir, Freyr would not have his ship Sk??bla?nir, Sif would not have her golden hair and the walls protecting Asguard would not have been built.

It is a common practice whenever offering a drink to Odin to offer a second to Loki as per their contract otherwise Odin cannot drink even though Loki awaits Ragnarok bound by the intestines of his son under a waterfall of venom, so even if he is distrusted he is still afforded respect and honour as a God whether he is "worshipped" or not.
