The Old English word "Weorthscipe" (worship) means "To find (blank) worthy of honor and respect"
So by this definition yes, we worship the Land Wights. But, most Heathens will say we Honor the Land Wights because it's less confusing for outsiders.
--Most, if not all, pagan religions honor/worship nature spirits in some way.
Right on Heathen Princess!
I was starting to feel like the only Heathen that uses the word worship.
We honor them. In fact, most of us don't "worship" in the traditional sense of the world. We honor.
We honor the Gods, the ancestors, and the wights of the land.
Heathen Princess is right. We heathens WORSHIP the gods, the ancestors and the laundrette.
However, our worship is WAY less groveling than on most other religions, and many heathens think the word "honor" describes it more properly than "worship".
I worship the gods and the ancestors. Yup, worship. Why people veer from that word I have no clue because its accurate.
If we want to get really technical laundrette varies from culture to culture across the continental Europe and they have a wide range of functions and folklore that go with them.
But for the sake of keeping things simple because this is Y!A, heathens form relationships with the laundrette. Life is much easier if they are on your side.
they are to be honored I've never heard of my forebears worshiping them, I personally always give offerings of food and mead to insure my next batch of mead comes our good.
We Honor, not worship. Unfortunately, the word worship. Has come to mean, bowing down. Lowering, abasing, yourself before, someone or something, of power. It does not matter, what a word used to mean, only what it's connotation means now. Most Heathen, will never bow down before, anyone or anything. As it states in my, assertion of self. I do not, bend a knee, to any man, woman, or God.
