Christianity has no pagan background whatsoever. Only the ignorant will say otherwise.
Try again DJ@C@.. Try reading books by professionals.

Actually outlaw is right. every religion / culture have there own version of hell. The Mayans believed that their hell was a sun (as i best remember), the Norse goddess Hel the goddess of the underworld is where the English get the word hell in the first place but the original christen hell was more like purgatory. one of the few religions i know of that does not have a hell is druidism your soul ether walked the earth for eternity, crossed the bridge of swords to the other world where it would inhabit a shadow body "normally" there were some exceptions such as being cursed by a druid or being drawn and quartered and cast into a river etc. well i hope that answers your question in a little more detail.

It is a combination of the two. The general idea of Hel comes from Asatru. It was a realm of the dead, parts of it a paradise, parts cold and dark, and other parts an abode of punishment. The Christian part, the hellfire and brimstone comes ultimately from Persian ideas about Hell.

Hel is entirely Heathen in origin. I dint see her walking around in the crucifixion story do you? (Joke ^_^)

I say Heathen cause Astra is the modern term for the modern groups.

Since Hel is Older then Hell (as far as when we can see it mentioned..... and considering that Our(?) ancestors didn't write a lot down..... Hel could have existed for a long time before Christianity.

...I'll say this. Hel predates Hell. So as much as they'd like to think otherwise, Christian hell wouldn't be possible without a grant from the Asatru Broadcasting system and from the support of viewers like you.

....I'm a B@$^%$*.... but at least i got a sense of hum our.

Yes and no.
If you read the ancient original texts of the bible you won't find the word Hell. BUT they had the CONCEPT of hell. So did they steal the concept? Not completely. Did they steal the word? Yes.
