Default Are Heathens who get bunched up over non-Nordic-blood Asatru sort of like Blacks upse

They're out there, they like your culture, don't take it as an offense.

ROFL!!! Well, I don't think it's just the culture they like. ^_^ The few I've talked to say it is the religion itself... it promotes strength, not meekness... it's considered a "warriors" tradition by some and many people seek that in their lives. I don't take offense at all at people who wish to be a part of that. I take offense when it's used by those who only use it to promote violence against innocent people.

LOL! I've never thought of it that way, but for some I'm sure it is exactly that. I look at each person and their sincerity about Heathenism on a case by case basis. Since I can't know what's truly in another person's heart, it can take me a while to decide if I'm going to accept someone or not and that decision is based on their actions, not skin color or ancestry. Do they ACT like a Heathen? (Honor, Self Sufficiency, Industriousness, Hospitality, etc) Or are they acting more like a twat waffle hiding behind Heathenism and their ancestry in an attempt to justify their own crappy behavior? (*Pokes most of the Heathens at Stormfront in the eye with a sharp, pointy stick*)

I've always been quite flattered when people question me about my culture. I was absolutely thrilled when I walked into a house and the female of the household questioned me extensively about everything from Norwegian cuisine to our famous blue twilight (I'm from just above the Arctic Circle) and various cultural and religious differences. She was Native American but from a different tribe than my ex (he was Chippewa, she was Lakota). She was absolutely fascinated by our culture and I was absolutely fascinated by hers. I might have looked at her funny if she wanted to convert just as she would have undoubtedly done to me if the situation was reversed, but if she was sincere I would have had no problem with it. I also always answer sincere questions about how I practice our faith.

I have a serious problem with anyone, regardless of ancestry, that uses ANY faith as an excuse to do evil or harm another or attempt to inflict their will on another person. Might does NOT always equal right. I will eventually accept anyone of any ancestry who is sincere in our faith and fight to the death to defend them, just as I would my blood Kin. Once it's clear they're a Heathen, they ARE my Kin, even if there is no blood relation and we practice differently. With the exception of the WN people, of course. I just can't like them no matter how hard I try as I feel they are maligning our deities with their atrocious behavior. This is why I lurk at Stormfront - so I know who to avoid at moots and at AllThing. Last time I mixed it up with a couple of 'em not only did I end up with a broken arm, I landed in jail for a couple months. That wasn't very fun. They don't give you nearly enough pain medication in jail. *snort!* Best to just avoid them, no?

Thanks for the laugh.

It all boils down to this, are you an insider or an outsider? Is a person truly a part of a culture? Have they immersed themselves in it fully? Do they understand it intuitively? Or are they on the outside looking in... just a faker, a poseur, a pretender?

Germanic heathery is a folkway, sure, but there's no reason to assume membership is based solely on ancestry. Why can't a person of worth be adopted/accepted into the tribe? For damn sure, just because your mom ma's from Norway doesn't mean I have to like/accept you! So why should the opposite --- automatic rejection -- be true either? That's best determined a case-by-case basis.

"Only the truth that in life we have spoken.
Only the seed that on earth we have sown.
These will pass onward when we are forgotten.
Only remembered for what we have done."
