Default Help with Asatru magic?

I don't quite understand how the runes work. What exactly are you supposed to do with them? Like do you draw them and carrying them around or burn them or what? and please provide a link to a site if you can.
Lol yeah burn them I read somewhere that you draw them on paper and then burn it don't ask me why Lil.
Oh I see it's more like divination. And I never said that they are real or work or anything I'm just curious.

Burn them?! No, runes are generally used for divination purposes and such. Generally people carve them into wooden st aves. Here's a website for you: http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/

I think maybe instead of trying to study the magic associated with Asatru, you should actually study the religion itself. It might also help if you study the history and culture of ancient Europe so you'd have a better idea of the context.

Keep in mind, Asatru is a deconstructionist religion, not a New Agey one. There isn't a great deal of focus on magic.

No, the Ruins symbols comes with a book. You lay the symbol pieces out on a table upside down so you cannot see the symbols. Then you ask God or your higher self to help you to pick what is for your highest good.
You can ask for an answer for a question or you can just pick one for the day.
Then you go to the symbol in the book and it will give you a reading about the day for you or what pertains to you.
They are very interestingly accurate most times.

Oh, that's very sad. Come on over here and sit by me for a second and listen very closely:

magic isn't real. See, no matter what you do with or to the runes, no thing's going to happen. Ever.

this is the 21st century. Magic is not real.

While some may say that there isn't a great focus on magic in Heathenism, it depends on the individual. It is truer to say that magic is NOT necessary to believe and practice Heathenism/Asatru but there are those that do practice it and when they do, it becomes a very important part of the religion and themselves.

While I am no expert on the subject, there are two basic types of magical working: Sadr craft and glade craft. Divination, from what I've read, is probably where you are asking about carving them, usually on twigs and colored with blood. Unlike fortune telling, divination uses the runes to answer questions your subconscious or even Daisie (female guardians) know the answers to. There are different casting methods, usually dependent on ones personal beliefs and what feels right. From what I've read, there are not many ancient sources available that describe how our ancestors practiced divination in detail. But basically, one casts the runes, then reads them to answer the question. Like casting, there are different methods of reading runes.

Seidr craft is a type of shamanism in which users go into trances and the runes are used as visual tools. Galdr craft is more of a verbal magic with the runes being chanted. Of course, this is a simplified explanation and like I said, I am by no mean an expert (but I'm working on it :-) )!!

I really suggest you look at this site: http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/
It has sections about divination, Sadr and glade craft and many, many other essays regarding runes and any possible questions you may have. This is a great starting point!!
