Default What are Wiccans/Witches opinion of Heathernry/Asatru?

just curious
I thought Heathenry is Norse and Anglo-Saxon paganism but Asatru is Norse only.

I generally find it a path with a lot going for it.
I'd have no problems with it at all if certain (not all) Asatruar didn't feel it necessary to constantly be disrespectful of my own religion.

It just, ahem, grinds my gears when a heathen says something like Wiccans are all vegan or some such...I especially get annoyed when they tell me what my religion is "really about." or what I "really think."

Edit: Iron Fist- I've never met a Wiccan in real life who claimed Wicca was ancient. It's hard to do when you've met people who were there from the start. I've met Heathens who've believed that I, as a Wiccan, thought Wicca was an ancient religion, however.

I will star to get more answers. that and i want to see what transpires.

LabGrrl don't forget that it is a two way thing many new age rs,wiccans, etc make claims on Heathenry that are not true. I've yet to meet a Heathen who states what vicunas are all about although I'm sure they are out there, but I do know many have said that Wicca is a new religion and has no ancient rules or background and they are right.

I think it is a valid path for those who are called by the Norse Gods. I also think its great that it still exists are Christianity tried so hard to snuff it out.

They are all Pagans. They get along. They share a belief in polytheism.

Hopefully more will answer, but I'm under the impression that not many out there really know what our religion is really about. Some have had only a little dealings with it and it is usually Thur Wicca and not a head on experience.

Lab, true, some do that. And some Wiccans claim that all of us Heathens are Nazi's and racists. =) No group is without their "know-it-Allis". Just seems that Pagans and Heathens in general, do what they can to educate those in our groups and to keep our images as honest as possible.

Pretty much the same as Labgrrl. I find it interesting to learn more about.

I've come across a few (very few) followers of Asatru who have a superiority complex, but this will happen in any group - there will always be those few....and yes, Wiccans have their fair share too.

Can't judge a whole group based on the rantings of a few of its followers.

I think its as good as any other religion. I personally am not drawn to re constructionist religions, nor have I ever felt even the slightest call from the Norse pantheon, so it would be a terrible fit for me, but that doesn't mean it's not a great fit for other people.
