Default Asatru/Heathens- Would you recommend any of these books?

Fairly new to Asatru and I am wondering whether or not to buy one or all of these books.

Northern Tradition for the Solitary Practitioner: A Book of Prayer, Devotional Practice, and the Nine Worlds of Spirit
by Galina Krasskova

Exploring The Northern Tradition: A Guide To The Gods, Lore, Rites And Celebrations From The Norse, German And Anglo-Saxon Traditions
by Galina Krasskova

Essential Asatru: Walking the Path of Norse Paganism
by Diana L. Paxson

Would you recommend any of these? I haven't heard many good things about the author of the first two books but if you could shed some info on where she is unreliable and recommend other books that are reliable that would be great.

No I wouldn't recommend any of those.

I'd recommend buying copies of of the Poetic and Prose Eddas, Sagas of the Icelanders, and H. R. Ellis Davidson's Gods and Myths of Northern Europe.

You could try reading "Our Troth" it's a fairly decent intro to Asatru if that is what you are looking for.

answer: Essential Asatru is a pretty basic primer, so is Exploring the Northern Tradition. I don't know the book of prayer

I know Diana Paxson, she is well up on the latest archeology, translations and such. Many Heathens aren't fond of modern takes on Heathenism, you have to determine if you agree or not.

Kveldulf Gundarson's Teutonic Religion is a good book (if a bit overblown, his ego shines through).

For basics - Crossley-Holland's book of Norse Myths, the Prose/Poetic Eddas

can't go wrong with those combined with some of the modern books. Question everything

I wouldn't recommend any of those books. Krasskova's association with Raven Kaldera and Cauldron Farm brings her into disrepute; a lot of their behavior cannot be posted on this site due to its violent and erotic nature. Paxson is an initiated Wiccan priestess not a Heathen, the two are not compatible.
