That, no matter how much I study of the Asatru beliefs, there's always more to learn and it's not a religion of finding a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong in my life. It has helped me to realize that when things go wrong, maybe I need to look at myself instead of other spirits who "made me do it". That, and the idea that regardless of what others believe, they can still be accepted instead of persecuted for their beliefs. (I'm new to my Asatru path, so if I've misinterpreted something, I'm open-minded enough to accept corrections to my statement. =) )

I'd say above all things... Self accountability.
We own our actions and our in actions.

I think what I find most intriguing about Germanic Heathenry are the ideas surrounding Byrd. Each person had their own Olag, and every community group has its own Olag comprised of the deeds of its individuals and of the group. This Olag for individuals is in part inherited from their ancestors and in part created by their own deeds, and occasional intercession by the Gods. For groups it is much the same. Anyway, this can be as simple or as complex as you want it.

That there's always something more to learn. A deeper layer. A different perspective. A new insight. A closer connection to my deities.
