Yes and no.

There are several "clergy" programs, most notoriously including the Troth's, which allows dual-trad and "Wiccatru" candidates, but none of them will actually make you a "got hi" by the heathen definition:

"If you call yourself a got hi and no one laughs, you are one." :-)

Or . . .

"Look behind you. If no ones following, you're not leading."

Basically, a got hi conducts bloat for a kindred and is that kind red's got hi. No kindred, not a got hi. Simple as that. But it's good to have some serious book time and blot time in, so as not to screw it up. Do it wrong, and you negatively impact the Luck of everyone there . . . yourself most of all.

I've been a Freysgothi for number of years. A good starting place is the Asatru-U Beginner's Course on Frigga's Web. I've found that while I don't personally agree with everything there, it lays a good foundation.

Boar's heart: very good answer.

There's also another thing: find yourself somebody who already is a Gothi and "apprentice" to them. Be careful though, and keep your individuality. Advice and teaching from our elders and superiors is priceless, but we shouldn't submit to it mindlessly.

Asatru is not a place, it is the Prue-Christian faith of the northern European peoples, most commonly called heathery... which is why we're discussing it in this forum.

The Troth offers a very rigorous clergy training program, whose details are far too numerous to list here but, for those interested, the link is provided below.

Boar's Heart correctly points out that you don't have to have any official seal of approval to be godson/man. HOWEVER... if you don't want to make a complete fool of yourself in public ritual (e.g. "Oh Thor, you are so mighty with that big hammer... mum... gee, we just think you're wicked cool") then it pays to study the lore and understand what the Hel it is you are talking about.

Wassail!
