Default Asatru Websites?

Ok, after my last question I've decided to look into Asatru. What are some good websites that you could recommend for the beginner? (Forums and informational websites would be greatly appreciated!)

I don't follow that path but I found these sites to be useful about the subject:
http://www.ravenkindred.com/
http://www.stonedragonpress.com/wicca_201/asatru_00.html
http://www.northvegr.org/northern/book/index.php
(there is an extensive index listed on the right side of the page)

Greetings Richard,
Being Asatru myself, I might be able to point you to a good site or twenty
My kindred (Raven Kindred North) has a site:
WNW.ravennorth.org
There is also a lot of good info on the Asatru Folk Assembly's site:
WNW.runestone.org
If you're still looking for info, feel free to email me directly at thorquabbin@yahoo.com
Wassail!
-Rick

The Troth (http://www.thetroth.org) is a great resource for anyone interested in learning more about Asatru, including how to connect with others in their state.

In the USA, the faith is largely about culture and community. It can be challenging to find other individuals or groups due to the relatively small number of people following this path (probably only a few thousand, nationwide). That's one of the things that organizations like the AFA and The Troth help address.

There are a growing number of Asatru groups springing up on Meetup.com as well, especially in major metro areas.

Best,
Mike H.

A great discussion board is WNW.odinist.net . Also the BEST book out there for introducing newbies to the religion is called "The Nature of Asatru" by Mark Puryear. Mark Puryear is the founder of the newly re-established Norroena Society, their website is WNW.norroena.org Pick up a copy of that book!!

Like Katia, I'd recommend Odin's.net as a good place to start - but I'd recommend "Asatru: The Hidden Fortress" as one of the best books to begin with. Also, the Masks of Odin, and the Poetic and Prose Eddas.

Some organizations are:

The Odinic Rite WNW.odinic-rite.org
The Asatru Folk Assembly WNW.runestone.org
the Asatru Alliance WNW.asatru.org

There are many other kind reds and hearths around as well - and some of the best books for the beginer are Edred Thorsson's older works.

As I am Asatru (actually I refer to myself as Folkish Heathen), I like all of the responses previously given. I would also recommend Yahoo e-groups. There are many out there and I am a member of, oh about, 6 or so.

Look for Our_Meadhall, Grimnir's Gate, Central States Heathens Georgia Heathen Society, The Southlands, Southeastern Asatru, Asatru Singles. Ther are many more, and most allow membership based on the region in which you live.

Best Wishes on your journey!
