Okay, I know that people are what they are because they choose to be. But! Why should I help them become Atheists?
I think people use to many excuses! Oh! "its human nature"! Well it may be human nature to kill the guy next door because you don't like him. But would you do that? Oh! "Its human nature to mock people and persecute them"! Hmmm. So I suppose when God almighty is sitting on the throne when judgment day comes you are going to say: Oh! "But Lord I'm only human"! You people blame others for making excuses without looking at yourself! Once you become a Christian, you are an example! And if your example is hate; others are going to know! They aren't stupid! I'm not saying they cause atheism. But I will say they sure to help them to turn in that direction!
I'm not sure that you can help anyone become atheist. I am an atheist, and when asked I explain why I feel that way. It primarily comes from the inconsistency in what the bible teaches and science. Becoming an atheist is something you do on your own based on your own personal beliefs and experiences.
I have never met a Christian or an Atheist whom did not sin, and for those Christ died. You are diminishing the cross, thinking your behavior will get you a good judgment. Good works are the result of faith, but they don't save anyone.....
no honesty causes belief in or not in any god hypocrisy causes those who demand that you believe what they want you to most of those people are not real believers they just need to reassure themselves and others that they are right kind of like the guy who asks his girlfriend all the time " was it good for you to ? "
Many people go to church on Sunday and "play along", but their actions throughout the week are contrary to what they are taught on Sunday and profess to believe. This could cause doubt in others that are confused and trying to decide. They could also defensively turn away themselves if someone "calls them" on their hypocrisy.
Satan causes Atheism, because he is jealous of humans, he thinks he is better than us, but God knows what humans are capable of (true sincere devotion) so hes trying to prove to God that humans are less than him in creation
[017:061] And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves to Adam." They prostrated themselves except Ibl?s (Satan). He said: "Shall I prostrate myself to one whom You created from clay?"
[017:062] [Ibl?s (Satan)] said: "See this one whom You have honored above me, if You give me respite (keep me alive) to the Day of Resurrection, I will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!"
It doesn't cause Atheism...it merely validates it.
You shouldn't help people become Atheists, but you should help people be comfortable in their religious choices, whatever that may be. You should also correct the views of others when those views cause harm. Beyond that, it is inappropriate to act upon your judgments, and you are being no better than those you would have become different.
no hypocrisy is caused by religions believing in a god Ive been studying Christianity and have found that it is the most hypocritical religion Ive ever read up on Atheism helps to eliminate hypocrisy
Did someone tell you that you have to help people become atheists? If they did, then you should ask that person why they told you to do that.
A strong understanding of logic, critical thinking, and the real meaning of truth and knowledge are likely to cause atheism. Look at the proportion of members of the national academy of sciences who are atheists, it is VERY high.
I'm sure many religious people are going to dislike this very much but there is much evidence showing that atheism is strongly correlated to higher education and IQ, as shown by many studies, not just a personal belief.(1)
Oh, and Glaswegian:
"You should also correct the views of others when those views cause harm. Beyond that, it is inappropriate to act upon your judgments"
Do you know anything at all about how many people have been slaughtered in the name of religion? I call that "harm".
An atheist couldn't be termed atheist if you can convince him, his decision is based on the perception that God doesn't exist because of a lack of evidence. Not hypocrisy of the Christians.
Hypocrisy is part of human nature. It's not making excuses. It's what we have become, if you pardon the cliche, since we gained the intelligence to do so. It doesn't cause atheism, neither does it cause religious fanaticism (for those who would like to jump down your throat for even suggesting such idiocy).
I rather think that skepticism and cynicism play more of a part in that. I have to admit though, that all these are taught and not self-Lent. Our experiences and the way we react (or are taught to react) to them also play a very important part in getting a person disillusioned.
No one actively ever help other people become that way. It can be said that this is a life choice - albeit one that is almost always made sub-consciously, whether we like/know it or not.
