i agree with you. although I'm not sure exactly how free will would support Christianity or atheism. free will is simply free will....it has no bearing on either....at least not that i can see.
I was born into and Atheist family...my parents didn't raise me as an atheist though...they said...if you want to go to church you can...it doesn't matter what you want to be..so I guess Atheism
People could choose either one with their free will. Atheism the easier choice obviously. You can just sit home and watch TV or play video games, no contribution to society required.
both.... I was born a pagan but now I believe in Jesus....yes because the mind is the enemy of God... believing is not part of the mind.. you can never believe when you try to understand because you really can't it is only God mercy...
Well, anything that exposes one to ridicule and proselytizing is more likely to be undertaken from a free will. People aren't often pressured to be different from the norm.
Atheist as well are led in their thinking.. They are lead by the Humanistic Manifesto. Our educational institutions are like most human led groups, looking to evidence that strengthens only their own convictions, not necessarily the truth. The ability to think independently insinuates access to all legitimate information, this hasn't been done in our educational process, so by definition, none of us are truly "free thinkers."
I wasn't raised in a Christian home, but my parents had respect for God, they just weren't Chrisians. I am Christian and I was not "drawn in" or "coerced". I knew from an early age that there was only one way and that was Jesus.
I know many people who were not raised in church and are Christian. I also know many who were raised in a Christian home and do not believe. how you were raised doesn't seem to have much bearing on it at all.
having a freewill allows you to make your own choices. I was raised in a Christian home, but I became a Christian for myself, my parents can't get me into heaven, what they believe or don't believe didn't sway me one way or the other.
This is a very good question! Too bad 10 points can't be given for good, well thought out (and supported) questions.
Before answering the question, please substitute Christianity for spirituality, so as to include all religions, and not target just one. Given that, I would say that, free will, along with native intelligence and profound thought, would almost have to yield a belief system of some type, simply because it is illogical to think that all "this" (everything that exists) did not have a source, a "First Cause", at some point of origin in the past.
Now, its true that most people pursue the religions of their immediate forbears, but, again, independent cognition and spiritual awakening will, in many cases, cause a change, either to another belief system, or, in some cases atheism. Many times atheists and skeptics develop their non-belief system based on what they haven't seen, as opposed to that which exists all around them.
They are both a choice. Weather you become a Christian or an atheist. Hey, by the way I heard one of your songs the music is very good. Good Luck in your music.
Any belief is based on choice, one can only make a decision based on the information available to them at the time of choosing.
As we gain knowledge we sometimes changes our minds,and/or beliefs based on newer information.
Free will is what needs to be supported, and all sides must agree on that.
