No they shouldn't be able to even celebrate Christmas i mean this one kid Brett Stanek says hes atheist and then he celebrates the birth of gods son i mean Wit the hell
The Buddha was Christ-like. Actually most of the stories about them match up almost exactly as do many of names they were called by their followers. The only difference is that the Buddha was rich before he became the Buddha and Jesus was a carpenter before he got the holy spirit. Oh and Jesus died on a cross. Other than that I guess Buddha would be the most Jesus-like person ever and he was Jesus-like before Jesus surprisingly. I guess Jesus was Buddha-like.
Yes, atheists are more moral than Christians. Atheists do not go around slaughtering millions of people who choose not to adopt the same religion Christians do.
No self-respecting atheist would ever want to. Most atheists are more moral than an East Christ. They never serve you a big lie to swallow. What greater sin than wasting the only life you'll ever have just to take up space in a fairy tale?
i would define acting christlike as showing the attributes of christ, such as compassion, patience, love, selfdicipline, and forgiveness. so i suppose anybody can be christlike whether they believe in christ or not. and sad to say, i know some people who are not christians, but behave more appropriately than people who claim to love God.
To me acting Christlike means helping those who are less fortunate, not judging people harshly because they are different and treating others as you wish to be treated. So, following my personal criteria for acting Christlike, I would say that any person can act Christlike, that includes Athiests.
I thought Atheist didn't even believe in Christ and the whole story?Don't the Christians believe Jesus was God. Kind of sounds like he's not that much of an atheist..It would be like me asking if I showed the qualities of the Atheist's IPU. My take on Christlike would be to give love unconditionally. So to me anyone that can do that is Christlike.
Love & Light and A little nonsense
It all depends upon what standard you apply to "Christ likeness". For instance Christ was loving and compassionate and an Atheist can certainly demonstrate those qualities.
But if by being Christlike you mean a person who not only possesses qualities like the ones I already mentioned, but who also seeks to do the will of his Father in Heaven like Jesus always did, then the answer would be "No! An Atheist cannot be Christlike although anyone can certainly "act" Christlike".
OK, acting Christ-like, in my definition would be someone who genuinely cares for others, helps people, and tries to solve problems in a non violent way.
That said, anyone can act as Christ would. "Religion" should not be the only yardstick for measuring how well we treat each other. Can't people be kind without subscribing to a particular sect?
It takes a person to research and imitate a person/situation. Sure, atheists certainly can act. We wouldn't have "Hollywood" without actors would we???
"Christlike" come in all forms. Catholics label those who have died living like "Christ" Saints. However, there is a wide variety of Saints. There is the "Saint of Theives", the "Saint of Music", the "Saint of Recovering Alcohalics", the "Saint of Fosterhomes", ETC.
I guess the stereotypical type is the one people love to hate which is the "French" Bishop/Priest during the 1700-1800's. A good cartoon depositing this hated "Christlike" character is Disney's villain in the "Hunchback of Notradame".
Reality is "Christlike" is anyone who believes in Christ. Each soul will practice loving Chirst in their own way. We all need to research Jesus' teaching, and try to love the way Christ did. So, I guess, if you want to "Act" it may very well be baby steps that may get you into heaven <To be determined by the Trinity>.
Christ : the alchemical fusion possible between the individual personality, the world, and the All-One. The "anointed" state that links the self with the SELF.
In this sense, we each have the potential to be a Christ, whether or not we believe in any of the religious trappings Christians have wrapped this idea up in. So, yes, an atheist can act Christ-like.
Every atheist I know is much more Christ-like than the Christians I know. Of course a person can be very Christ-like and be an atheist. I would defy you to tell the difference most of the time.
My opinion of Christ-like qualities - peaceful, kind, compassionate, forgiving, helping the poor and down-trodden, sacrificing self-interests for the help of others- those would be a few.
Since Christ was most concerned with love (IE, non-judgment) and improving the lives of others (as in, not bombing the sh*t out of their country), and many (of course not all; an Atheist can be just as major a dick-head as the next guy) Atheists I know are peaceful, live the best life they know how kinds of folks, I would say Atheists can be Christlike.
Christ is said to have been perfect, so no one can completely succeed to be Christlike. In most ways, it is possible to be almost as good as Him by loving your neighbor etc, but if you don't love God then you have missed the one thing that gives you the chance to be as perfect as Jesus (one day).
Anyone can act Christlike, regardless of religion or lack thereof. Not everyone can act Atheistlike, or that is, think for themselves and just be themselves.
In reality, some of the nicest people I've ever met are Atheists and Pagans, two religions that are just shat upon by Christians who find them "scary", "goth", or "biding time 'til they come to Christ". Some of the pushiest, nastiest, most fake people I've ever met are Christians, who are only nice until they get you in their church and then they try and turn you into something you aren't. Certainly not very Christlike.
Personal experience: I am a born again Christian,re:One God,Apostolic,Tongue Speaking,Holy Roller so on and so forth. Does that mean I don't sin? I didn't say I was God! Of course I sin.!!!! We are ALL sinners SAVED by the grace of GOD. I think being Christlike,at least to me is pretty much what it says. You try to be like him.We cant BE him but to try to be like him,I believe makes you a better person inside and out. A Cristian that says a cuss word and a person that chooses not to believe in Jesus both sin and a sin is a sin,we all do it. Bottom line is do you want to live your life for Christ and if you do then a good thing to do would be to ask him to make you more like him. What a revelation that can be! Like no other! (personal experience)Does that make you a better person than anyone else? Humanly speaking,NO. Spiritually speaking, YES it does. I mean that in an ever so humbling way. You are not better because of anything that you can do, you are better because of the Gift that Jesus offers to us all, Salvation!
when i asked that question i was referring to the way i was taught to be as a christian when i was a child. you know things like not to judge other people, treat people the way i would want to be treated, those type of things. and though some may believe other wise my question was not directed to anyone in particular. and yes i believe even and atheist can act both christian like and be and be a jackass. i myself do both quite well and am more then willing to admit it.
I guess anyone can have a form of godliness and yet deny the power thereof. The word of God even tells us Satan can appear as an angel of light and his messengers as ministers of righteousness.
It is of course only those who have been called of God and ordained unto eternal life in Christ our precious Lord that shall enter the kingdom of God if they endure unto the end.
The tree is known by the fruit it bears and the fruits of the spirit that our precious Jesus sees we may overlook or misunderstand being only human.
There are those who are as white washed sepulchers full of dead men's bones yet appearing righteous on the outside.
But that's just my opinion.
Love,
Samantha.
To seem Christlike is someone who doesn't tell a bad lie, who has a good life, they are very compassionate for the world and seems to have pure love in their hearts and so on and so forth all the good virtues that someone may carry morally. But Remember you can only really have real love when God loves you and you Him. And all sins are the same there is no little sin or big sin God sees all sin the same in Gods eyes. Humans judge sin for their on benefit.
Anyone can seem as if they have heavenly virtues, many people are riding church pews into hell... But God Almighty looks upon the heart of one person. Their outside appearance is irreverent according to God. The scripture states: John 3:15, 16
That whosoever believer in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believer in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
It also states in Gods word many times many will come but few will be chosen.
Just think of what Revelations states about the anti-Christ... he will seem to have the same attributes as Jesus did. Many people wear sheep?s clothing but underneath are demons in disguise...
Look at all the preachers that claim to have God but do evil in the sight of God.
No man can know another mans heart... only God can know that. At judgment day we will all look upon the face of God and "all" people will worship Him and acknowledge God as God. Even those who do not believe in Jesus Christ. But God doesn't want anyone to perish he loves all people... Men will go to heaven believing that God will be slack in his Judgment... They will say to Him I was a good person" or "I went to church every week" and God will say I knew you not flee from me... God is God is God is God is God why should he allow sin in His presence, HE IS GOD. We should reverence Him always. There is only one way to heaven and that is the belief in Jesus Christ, and our sword which is Gods word should always be studied we should always worship God as if He is Standing in front of us, and always attempt to be sinless. God's word is truth and knowledge and works for today as well as yesterday. God Bless you always
"Is that a Christian way to behave?" I've heard this question by Christians, and they're substituting the word 'Christian' for 'moral'. There are many ways a person can be moral, regardless of religion.
