'Sin' is a religious concept which means being disobedient to a god. Since gods are only a product of the human imagination, sin cannot exist. Therefore the answer to your question is "No".
The sin is rejecting Christ. SIn is not relative, as so many believe. It is determined by God. Instead of asking 'what do I want to believe?, people should be asking 'what is true about God and our relationship to him?'
From your perspective, it depends on your religious beliefs. From the atheist's perspective, he or she doesn't believe in god, heaven, hell or the concept of sin. So stating their beliefs would not be considered a sin.
Have you ever thought what atheists think about people who declare they are Muslim, or Jewish, or Christian?
If you believe in the Bible, it's most definitely a sin. Hence the reason why people like me are not well-liked by Christians. Every word out of my mouth is an abomination to them, no matter how rational and wise it may be.
No. This comes back to the argument about "club membership." I'm an atheist, not part of the "club" of faith that believes in sin. Therefore, I am not required to play by club rules. Therefore, I cannot "sin," as it is a concept that only applies to people of faith.
Put differently, is it a sin for a Baptist to eat meat on Friday? No. It is only a "sin" for a Catholic to eat meat on a Friday. The Baptist does not belong to the club of Catholicism, and is therefore not beholden to their rules.
Richard Watson states in his 1831 book, A Biblical and Theological Dictionary: ?Atheist, in the strict and proper sense of the word, is one who does not believe in the existence of a god, or who owns no being superior to nature.?
In the first place, many men have notions of sin which really deprive sin of all its distinctiveness, or, rather, many men simply deny the existence of anything that can properly be called sin at all.
so...they are not committing a sin because they are not obeying any God or religion to restrict them with sins.
YES! Because in that persons heart-of-hearts they really know that God does exist. Therefore the so-called atheist is definitely committing a sin. God always knows how a person feels inside. An atheist might be able to pull the wool over some peoples eyes but not God.
Well, if there is no god, then the sin issue would be moot--right? If you are concerned about sin, then deep down you know there is a God you will have to answer to, so best get the sin issue taken care of and get in contact and fellowship with you. Problem solved. http://tinyurl.com/o44bt
Most religions (or people) believe you go to heaven on merit rather than steadfast belief with regular forgiveness. (I think)
Some do think steadfast belief get you there with regular forgiveness.
I could rape, murder, pillage, then have a god moment on my death bed and go to heaven. But if I say I'm an atheist, commit no 'sins', i would still go to hell. Wonderful isn't it.
To a religious person it is a sin, but to an atheist they are not committing a sin, since they don't believe in a God, they cant commit a 'sin' in his eyes.
Yes. I'm atheist. "Sin" is something that the Bible spells out. It's like saying "I'm not putting because I'm not really a golfer" to say the term doesn't apply to atheists. Yeah, I'm sinning, but who cares? It's an arbitrary concept in an outdated book.
