I was wondering since atheist don't believe in god, do they believe in the devil. It doesn't even have to specifically Satan that I'm talking bout, just in a devil.
I would like to point out the definition of atheist:
someone who denies the existence of a god, gods, or goddess
There is no "and the devil" pasted in at the end. It would be irrelevant whether or not someone believed in the devil or not when determining if someone is an atheist. Well, I also guess that depends on your definition of devil. It wouldn't make sense if someone believed in a devil but not a god, so therefore, most people who don't believe in a god, don't believe in a devil, and basically every other supernatural being without evidence
Sorry, no supernatural beings of any sort. (as yet)
The devil (Satan) is a God construct - that is the only way the theists
can explain the existence of God and Evil together in our world.
To be an atheist its only necessary not to believe in god. Now the devil is normally defined in relation to god so non-belief in god naturally implies non-belief in the devil.
No, atheists (typically) don't believe in anything that cannot by definition ever be explained by a scientific approach. This includes gods, be they good or evil, and most everything called metaphysical.
If we don't believe in the principal deity of any religion, why you will think we care about some classic antagonist or any second character... we also don't believe in leprechauns, gnomes or pink unicorns.. or the tooth fairy.
For true evil to exist you need a group of people to agree on a specified action. Often they agree it is the right thing to do. All evil deeds are committed by people.
This atheist does not. The Devil is is just as hypothetical as any other magical, supernatural hypothetical being that believers have imagined and described.
Have you ever noticed that only believers are tormented by hypothetical, supernatural beings?
