Because everybody believes in something. Everyone has hope, everyone makes wishes. We all pray to something or other, its only natural to do so. Except we call it different things, some people call it God, Allah, Jehovah, whatever. Its unknown. Atheist's simply refuse to give it a name... would you agree?
Atheists are self professed that they do not believe in any God or gods. They can believe in the tooth fairy, but still be an Atheist. Because the tooth fairy is not a god or God. Neither is hope.
Atheism simply by definition is the rejection of belief in the existence of deities(gods or God).
Not really. I don't believe in something. I believe in my friends and family. They have always been there for me and if you want, lets call them my Gods.
My family created me, gave me birth. My friends shaped my personality. In the end, I am who I am because of them, and I am grateful. IF you really want to have a god in your life, my gods are these people that were there for me when I needed them. Not like the non-existent christian god that was NEVER there for me when I needed him. And when I say I needed him I mean when I was begging for something or someone to help me put the knife away from my neck.
I believe in terrestrial causes and effects, but those aren't deities. Hopes and wishes are great, but I don't direct them at any unseen thing or concept.
No. You have no understanding of atheism. I do not "wish" for anything that I can't take action to obtain myself, be it material or psychological. If I want something I take action to obtain it. I do not pray to anything.
I have no illusions about any supernatural forces existing.
Just because you can't imagine your life with out supernatural forces doesn't mean everyone else needs them as well.
Disagree. Hopes and dreams have nothing to do with believing in any gods. Also, not everybody prays. I don't. I hope for things, but I don't pray for them.
Theists believe there is one or more superhuman beings.
Atheists believe there are no superhuman beings. - That is a strong statement of faith, to state "there is no god or gods." They are as certain there is no god as theists are certain there is at least one god.
Agnostics do not know what to believe.
Atheist is a human title, with a human definition, and when someone says they are an atheist, they've adopted that title, I know everyone believes in something, but when they say they don't believe in God, they are an atheist.
NO! Do you know what an Atheist is???? Funny how you think you know ALL Atheists. I do not believe in NO deity or deities. I need credible physical evidence, or myself and the rest of the Atheists are not going to believe.
If I discover that I have been believing in something, in the religious sense of being certain without any logical reason, I do my best to correct that error in my thinking.
I am absolutely certain of nothing.
I deal in degrees of doubt.
