Default Aren't some Atheist....religious?

So I have a friend called Emi.
She's an atheist.
She believes there is no higher being.
She doesn't know how we got here. And she doesn't care.
Basically she doesn't believe in evolution.

Now, most atheists believe in evolution, yes?
They BELIEVE it. Yes?
They have faith and trust that this is the how we came about.

Now, my belief system is no different. Except for the fact that I believe my God created this world. And not a bunch of chemicals (...I really should research evolution a bit more ha ha)

Are they not that different?
They are both belief systems.
And they both require faith.

Now I know atheist means; someone who denies the existence of god or a higher being.
But considering that so many atheists practice in evolution, practice natural science, theories and research, wouldn't this make their belief system, a religion?
Although it's not worshiping a higher being, they still preach their theory like I preach my theory?

Thoughts?

I hope this makes sense

Enlighten me my fellow atheists.
I'm a curious little munchkin :P

faith is belief WITHOUT evidence

we have evidence for evolution, so its not faith.

It just doesn't require that much faith when you have a huge amount of evidence to support it, does it?

Science doesn't require belief, that's the entire point, and you're an intellectually dishonest factoid. I hope this was enlightening to you. That aside, there ARE religious atheists, but not in the way you mean. Think Buddhists, and there are others.

Evolution is indeed fact and a theory. In science a "theory" is an explanation of how/why something happened or works. Just as the theory of gravity explains how/why gravity occurs, the theory of evolution explains how/why evolution occurs.
Just to remind you, evolution has absolutely nothing to do with the origin of life nor the origin of existence. It is really quite simple, evolution is the explanation of how life evolved, hence the name "evolution."
What makes all the evidence for evolution really powerful is that it all matches up! Transitional fossils are found in rocks of just the right age and location, matching up with both the evolutionary time line and the ancestral migration path of species. Fossils are not randomly scattered. The fossil record also shows us evidence in their structure of an evolutionary "family tree" branching out from a common ancestor. The discoveries in genetics and DNA also show us an evolutionary family tree, one that matches up exactly with the fossil record. The evidence found in embryos and vestigial organs both illustrate this same family tree. Dating/age, migration paths, fossil record, embryos, vestigial organs, genetics and DNA all independently tell the exact same story, exactly as the Theory of Evolution predicted! 99.85% of all scientists in the relevant fields of earth and life sciences agree that biological evolution is a fact.My question to you is, How can you not believe in evolution? :/
EDITED:
Faith means making a virtue out of not thinking. It's nothing to brag about.. and thighs who preach faith and elevate it to the extreme are intellectual slave holders.Keeping mankind in bondage, to fantasy and nonsense that has spawn and justified so much destruction throughout the ages.

I also believe offer and demand are useful concepts in understanding the price of goods.

What are you getting at?

I believe some of the concepts people come up with to try to describe the world we live in actually do a pretty good job describing the world we live in.
Guilty.

And?

1. Atheists believe in evolution like how you believe the chicken drumstick will get fried when you cook it in boiling oil. It's natural. It's a fact of life, not some faith-crap.

2. Atheists believe there's no higher being like HOW YOU BELIEVE there are no elves and pixies.

Get it? No faith is needed.

EDIT::

You don't need faith to know that elves and pixies do not exist right...?

This isn't a theory. It's a hypothesis. Or an assertion.

But no, I don't accept evolution on faith. It doesn't require faith.

Yes, there are religious atheists, which has zero to do with anything that you assert.

No, atheism is not a religion

Atheism is a belief (or lack of a belief) not a belief system. A violin is not an orchestra.

When you go to social networking websites and they ask for your religion, is Atheist always a choice? Of course it is.

When you go to prison and they ask you for your religion, again, Atheism is a choice.

Religion is what people think happens after they die. It manifests itself in fellowship, dogma, worship, and clergy.

Atheist dogma is a recently updated dictionary.

Atheist fellowship can be seen in how people will like you or not like you based on your opinion of God.

Atheists generally worship self followed by other trappings of vanity. This makes them very easy to control. Once you find out what an Atheist worships, you have the ability to control them by invoking this worship in them. Money works great for this end.

Atheist clergy members are anyone with a degree and/or fame that questions the existence of God.

"They BELIEVE it. Yes?

Kid... evolution is based on LOTSA verifiable FACTS.
Just cos you don't know this does not change it.

You imaginary little space person *proofing* all this from a standing start has NO evidence to support it and relies entirely on... wait for it... ... wait for it... MAGIC !
BOO !

LuLz

"Enlighten me my fellow atheists"
It's still spelled atheists.

"I'm a curious little munchkin"
Not the adjective I'd have used.

Following is an answer I gave not ten minutes ago to a similar...
It's far too incredible... there must be a 'god'.

"I just dint understand how many can take a scientific approach to answer questions about things that science obviously[sic] cant answers"
And I don't understand why you have to jump straight to an imaginary little sky person cos we don't have answers.
WHO said there was an imaginary little sky person?
WHAT evidence is there of such a critter?

You see?
The imaginary little sky person just brings up more questions.

Back to one of your earlier points... you expect us to believe there's an imaginary little sky person without evidence BUT you can't believe universe ALWAYS existed in one form or another yet the universe is here... we can actually SEE evidence.

Rather than believe in an imaginary little sky person it's much easier to believe universe has been contracting and expanding and contracting and expanding and contracting and expanding and contracting and expanding and contracting and expanding forever... billions upon billions of years.

And yes, I'm sorry, this means we're all rather insignificant...
We just can't get around that FACT.

?Gods? and magic are the most simplistic excuses ignorant primitives have ever imagined explaining anything.

We could just as well suggest Michael Jackson, with or without the assistance of the local Pixies wearing hard hats, did it cos there?s the same amount of evidence... NONE.

Atheists believe in evolution...It is amusing, because evolution is a myth.

atheism has nothing to do with evolution, and atheism is the lack of belief in a god, nothing else.

and you are not a fellow atheist if you are religious.
