Default Atheists, do you deny Christian God so that you can live an immoral life?

I was looking into the book 'Can Man Live Without God' by Ravi Zacharias....where the author states that

"""Atheists dint really disbelieve in God predicated on lack of evidence for, strong evidence against, or both; but that atheists dint believe in God because we are immoral and willfully deny it.""""

I lost all respect for the author after reading this....There are lots and lots of good atheists too !!!
@EddieJ

It is in the book...may be it is the Ravi's review of Spiegel...and he might have added the above statement in his book "can man live without god"

No, I deny the Flying Spaghetti Monster for that reason.

I deny God because he's black.

No. I deny the Christian God for the same reason I deny unicorns. Neither one exists.

That quote is pathetic. I now share your lack of respect for that author.

It's simply an ad homonym, and the evidence is against the claim. Many atheists are atheists precisely because they are moral enough to admit there is no good reason to believe in any deity.

That might make sense if the author could read minds and therefore can see who believes and who doesn't

No, I deny him because there is no reason to believe that he exists. I live a more moral life than many religious people that I have met.

I've found that in general my morals are far greater than those of Christians. Believing in god =/= having superior morals.

Yes, I don't believe in a god because I really just want to do mean things. Like throw cats at people or something.

Yeah, Mr. Zacharias sounds like quite a knob. One more author spreading lies about things he obviously has no clue.

Sinner, stop using His name for he is our Lord. Remove His name from your filthy user name and repent for your sins! May He have mercy on your soul!

Anyone who believes that his or her wrongdoings can be atoned for by the suffering and the death of someone else has no business questioning the morality of those who don't believe such a perversity.

I don't like RZ, but that sounds like a quote from James S. Spiegel, or maybe Andrew Atkinson's review of Spiegel.

Edit: Page numbers can be inconsistent, but tell me the chapter name and number, the starting and ending page of the chapter and the page # that the quote is on.

That is pretty ridiculous. Seeing how God promises to forgive all sins we can be mass-murdering child rapists as long as we apologize later.

not believing in a god is not a means to some end. I dint believe in god(s) for the same reason i dint believe that leprechauns determine my future, that unicorns created me, or that elves instilled morals in me.

the goal i gave myself in life is to fulfill my curiosity and find out about the world. i do this by exploring, reading, etc. not by believing in whatever people tell me to believe, especially without evidence.

I would challenge that author to take a look at the lives of any atheist I know, and state exactly how they are "immoral". I don't know a single atheist who not every bit as moral, or MORE moral, than most theists that I know.

A perfect example is the author himself, who is clearly "bearing false witness" against atheists, by making UP reasons HE wants to think atheists are atheists, rather than caring one iota about what the truth is. It makes HIM feel good to make such statements about atheists, so he doesn't care one bit about whether or not there's any truth to them. He's gonna say it anyway, and to heck with the truth.
Atheists have no reason to lie about why they don't believe in the existence of God, so theists who make a habit of ignoring what EVERY SINGLE ATHEIST says in regards to why they're atheists, and just turn around and make up reasons that have nothing to do with what atheists really think, just expose their own ignorance and desperation. They also don't realize that in needing to argue against atheism based on things that have NOTHING to do with what atheists really think, they aren't winning the argument! In order to win the argument, you need to argue based on the facts, not s--t you make up!

That is ridiculous.

Most atheists have more of a moral conscience than Christians!

We do what is best for ourselves and society. We do not live immoral lives. Get your facts straight.

That's what's wrong with this world. Ignorance.

Ummmm, no.

Atheists simply don't believe in God; full stop. I have known some who were incredibly moral.

A great Theologian, Bernard Longergan, wrote about this subject. He was looking at where morals come from, and his idea is that we all have religion, which informs our morals. Atheists included, although their religion comes from withing, rather than from outside teachings.

I do not believe atheists reject God to live immoral lives at all.
