Default Why is the persecution of atheists in the USA allowed to go unnoticed?

We are constantly told about the Holocaust in schools, we know about Emperor Nero who persecuted Christians in the Roman Empire, we know about the USSR and other Communist states where religion was persecuted.

Yet nothing on the hatred and persecution of atheists; atheists are the most hated, persecuted group in history.

Here in the UK atheists are the majority; we have all the rights and the biggest voice; believers are not allowed to have a voice; many organizations can ban believers from joining (the other way around is banned), Jewish schools have been shut down for not allowing atheists to attend and Catholics are not allowed to become members of the Royal Family. The UK is freckly anti-Christian, last week a church was burned down in the name of Paganism.

In the USA many people wouldn't vote for an atheist and many people would be upset if their child married an atheist; I have heard that many Americans want the death penalty and segregation for atheists and some Americans believe that the world would be better if Hitler killed atheists and I have read about an atheist family driven out of their home that is disgusting and hateful. Richard Dawkins says he is fed up and disgusted with the hate and persecution atheists get in the USA; he plans to do something about it.

What can be done?
The Return of the Ghost of Hunghugely - You have been thumbed down, what you said NEVER hap pend, atheists have NEVER harmed anyone, and you can't be an atheist and harm someone, that makes no sense.

Btw, there never has been a war fought in the name of atheism. And there never will be either. In Darwin's name we pray amen.

Proof?

Atheist have the ACLU to defend them and often at the expense of the rights of other religions here in the US.

I see no evidence of persecution of atheist in the USA.

The same thing every persecuted minority group has ever done: keep fighting, be honest about who you are and don't give up.

I've been an atheist since I was 9 and I have never understood why the belief in a magic sky god who kicked the first humans out of his garden for eating an apple (or perhaps a tomato) then flooded the earth in a rage then eventually sacrificed himself to himself so the sins he forced those humans to take on would be forgiven, before raising himself from the dead and going back home is so wide spread.

I'm an atheist, and it is not as bad as some atheists make it out to be. When I tell people I am an atheist, they may try to witness to me but that is the extent of the conversation. I've never lost family, or a friend because of the lack of my religious beliefs.

If someone were to be so anal as to not want to be friends, or respect me because of atheism I would not want to associate with them to begin with. I can also send my kids to Methodist and Catholic schools, if I wanted to.

Well your kinda talking about something major with something little.

Atheist persecute Christians 24/7, there is Hadley and persecution by Christians to atheist.

Its kinda like if a 25 year old man and a 5 year old kid got in a fight.

The 5 year old kid could hit the man all day long and the man will never say anything, but as soon as the 25 year old man hits the kid the kid runs and crays to their mom (government)

people not voting for an atheist doesn't mean they are being persecuted, plus there are definitely atheists holding public office... the things that you "have heard" are not popular beliefs held by Americans. if you can tell me how atheists are being harassed or oppressed here in the states, maybe it would help your argument

How many anti-atheist questions and comments do you see compared to anti-Christian questions and comments?

Probably on in every five questions on here is about how Christians aren't for abortion, or how we're not for gays, or how "hypocritical" it is for a Christian not to support taxing the rich to give to the poor...

I haven't seen a single anti-atheist question so far that I can remember...

Creationists are treated like idiots and made fun of all the time by atheists...

I live in the UK and
"Here in the UK atheists are the majority; we have all the rights and the biggest voice; believers are not allowed to have a voice; many organizations can ban believers from joining (the other way around is banned), Jewish schools have been shut down for not allowing atheists to attend and Catholics are not allowed to become members of the Royal Family. That is Rubbish. Everyone in the UK is equal regardless of beliefs, money, status etc. We don't burn churches and there are many Catholics and other faiths. Have some respect.
Members of the Royal Family can marry a person of any faith with permission of the King/Queen at the time but they lose their place in the line of succession. In fact, there have been many campaigns in the UK to change this.
Within the USA, I understand that Atheists are a minority but most definitely make themselves heard from what I've seen. I guess it depends of the state, as some have more of a certain religious group than others. I suppose you protest/campaign if you want change in a problem you see.

Because right wing conservative Christians think America was founded to be the theocracy of their wet dreams.

Do you feel persecuted unless you have the power to persecuted others. You feel that denying Jews and Christians the right to teach their children their value system is something to be proud of and something that promotes freedom?

Atheists have murdered more people than all other groups combined. Mao killed 30 million, Stalin killed 22 million, Hitler killed 16 million (atheist not Lutheran) and the Kmher Rouge killed 2 million in a tiny country one quarter the size of Texas. So your people have quite a track record of destruction and have no real claim to a sense of victim hood, quite the reverse.

So your only real claim of grievance is that the atheists have been restrained in their ability to discriminate and murder Jews and Christians.
