You probably know that child sacrifice was very popular in Old Testament times. It continued in the New World (Americas) well after those countries started converting to Christianity. Do you think c.s. was simply a way to get rid of unwanted children? They weren't all virgins. Some of them were physically defective.

No it is sinfully, they should have let god take care of it the way god does it, by bear enforcer squads.
