Default Atheism requires faith and a belief?

If there is no list of possibilities for the cause of the universe, then how can we even begin to look for the evidence for the cause of the universe? because without evidence where is the proof? and without proof you can never be certain of the Truth.
If you assume there is no cause then you suggest that motion does not exist

Can't use the beginning of the universe as a faith thing-where did god come from?
Nobody will EVER know why there is something and not nothing, probably even god, if you believe in him, does not know.

False statement, first of all.

Second of all, not a question.

Third of all, your question doesn't make any sense

You don't have to have faith to not believe something.

I guess that's an attempt at a circular argument which failed. Keep going to church, you'll get better at it.

for the atheists here it does require a need to prove that which does not exist is "fake"...

look for the logic in that...

Why do I need "faith" if I'm unconvinced by theists' indefensible claims?

Can we just pretend that when an atheist denies belief in any gods, they really mean that absent any evidence, they don't believe in any gods. Atheism is the opposite of faith.

Not believing in god doesn't mean you need faith. Not all atheists are scientists and not all scientists are atheists.

It is a total waste of time for any man/woman of science to engage in a rational dialogEUith any religious people, especially Christians! Muslims lost any momentum they had hundreds of years ago! Today they are strictly into bombing themselves up at any busy intersection with plenty of innocent people around! The JEWS hold the greatest number of patents and contributions to humanity than any other ethnical group, but sh*t happens! They also wrote the Bible stories that Christians and Muslims use to bring so many wars, pain and suffering into our world!

A proud Christian JEW Saint Paul wrote?

1 Timothy 6:20 (KJV) O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, AVOIDING PROFANE AND VAIN BABBLINGS, AND OPPOSITIONS OF SCIENCE FALSELY SO CALLED.

Most Christians of all brands, including some popular US PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES like Pat Robertson REALLY hate SCIENCE because it contradicts the Bible stories. NOBODY can POSSIBLY imagine what America would be like with Pat Robertson as President! Pat has millions of Christians in America supporting him with a lot of money! He believes that science is a Communist plot to hurt America! CHRISTIANS ARE WILLING TO GIVE THEIR LAST PENNY TO HELP GOD!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WynH9nJuSuk&NR=1

A scientist looks at the evidence and can?t help to draw conclusions while Christians read some of the Bible and look around for supporting evidence? REAL SCIENCE IS STILL WEARING DIAPERS! Up until recent history CHRISTIANS IMPOSED THEIR VIEWS ON SCIENCE BY LAW! Dissenters were usually executed along with the Salem witches! The Clergy makes up all kinds of infallible DOGMAS to support any absurd story in the Bible that identifies their religious brand from all the other ones.

Calling Atheism a belief is like calling bald a hair color.

Sure, they're are many possibilities of how the universe was created. I dismiss the possibility of God because it least fits in with any of those possibility's.

Being an atheist (however you chose to define that word) does not *require* you to form *any* belief about the origin of the universe.

Physics for starters. Faith requires no prove, scientific evidence requires evidence, testing, peer reviews, editing. Athiesm is a rejection because the other side has no evidence that can hold up to the evidence we have now. Although please make your question more specific, what are you getting at??

It takes far more faith to believe in evolutionism than it does to believe God created us. It's also obvious that he did.

Atheist do not care about or recognize the truth. They have closed their minds and are trying to proof that they are more intelligent than the source of their very existence.

All is faith because the 'Truth' can never be known.

This is where science steps in and gives credibility to theory through observation. I am an atheist because the religious theories have no observational credibility but the scientific ones do.

Seems logical to me.

"What caused the universe" is not a question. A cause must come before an effect, so the word "cause" implies the existence of time. Time is a dimension of the universe, not something external to the universe. Thus, trying to apply the word "cause" to the universe is to misuse the word. So, no list, no looking, no answer at all is needed, since no question has been asked.

edit: I'm not claiming no cause. I'm saying no question is being asked, so no answer is needed at all.

I should say it is amazing that no one could make any useful contribution (at the time I wrote this) to this question. But I am not surprised at all. You went straight to the jugular and no one can deal with it in a mature and intelligent way? You are not even attacking, you simply made a premise in the form of a question. Hopefully one of these "scientists" in here will provide something worth listening to.
