Default Former theists: How has your new found atheism affected your lives?

Did you feel liberated after dropping all your beliefs in a God?
Did/do you feel empty as now there is no God to believe in?

How has your non belief affected you after your belief. (Assuming you had a belief before your non belief)
@LarryM - I think it's the same for me. I am where you where 45 years ago.

For The most important facts of your question, please visit the website http://www.mormon.org
&
THE GOOD SECRET EVIDENCE
Just read these important things
1)Absence of anything is nothing and the life is you, you can not come from nowhere so even god can not pop out from nowhere. You are like software and your body is like hardware of the computer, even god can not get anything from nothing especially you are the life. The Life has to come from life. You are a Spirit child of God.
2) God can not change the past because time has no beginning and end as numbers -2,-1, 0, 1, and 2 so on.
3)God can not do the wrong things because god does not have the option to choose so the god is not capable of doing wrong things.

The Evolution is Assumption. Why? The Life comes from dead chemicals? No, if you believe dead things come to life, then why don?t you believe in Jesus Christ resurrection. The Lord is living God for instant think about who programmed the unlearned Prue-program data (the skills) for birds to built the beautiful nest and communicate so another animal skills like extraordinary navigation skills for turtle to navigate thousands of miles to the same beach to lay eggs, where previously hatched from and more on and on the intelligences so with The Evolution Missing Links Assumption these are impossible intelligences to work as they are now. There are so many investments from co operations to misinterpret the actual evidences for the profit of weak atheism but The God is real with us.

The Law of mercy cannot rob the Law of justice so Justice demands the punishment of our sin but The Law of mercy requires the forgiveness to give to us & God is perfect in perfection so he cannot violate his laws so The God provided the way to our salvation to overcome our sin so Jesus Christ sacrifice is much needed to return to live with God, so Jesus Christ is our savior.

New Testament ? John ? 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seethe the Father do: for what things soever he doth, these also doth the Son likewise.
If god always perfect in perfection then there have to be beginning with God for the organizing progress of all things. So, there is No end & also No beginning for all things, including this on going organizing progress.

If every one is perfect like god then there is noting to do for every one. So god has the plan for us to be perfect like him.

The Book of Mormon ?And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, ??.and they teach all men that they should do good.? 2 Nephi 33:10
If you are humble, Please, Pray to know the truth from true God (from the true source of all things) by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit with great faith (by your real earnest feelings)

And I pray that you will take what I say seriously. If you truly believe what you believe is important, then you will think about what I wrote. There is one true God, one God, he created this world, and he created everything.

Well, No one can prove there is no god for me, no one. why? I received strong testimony from God. There is a great threat to destroy the Fundamental unit (our family) of our community from homosexual atheist community in the name of rights to sleep with their own sisters and brothers. All are there to destroy us BUT when the good person takes actions, the evil will not trump and I believe you. God bless you.

Seriously & Truthfully
The servant

A relief obtained by the dropping of a significant amount of cognitive dissonance.

No extra emptiness, except for the loss of Christian friends who could not handle my apostasy.

It's been a while since I became an atheist, almost forty-five years. My apostasy wasn't something that happened in a moment, though. It took a while, maybe a year or two of reading and questioning. So, my god belief sorta diminished over time, rather than going from all to none in a moment. So, no feelings of immediate liberation or such, but over the years, a lot of almost-constant feeling of such, being able to think for myself and make decisions based upon reality and not superstition. I like it. It's cool.

Liberated. Because the truth was that I never truly believed in the stuff. I was just fed the stuff as a child and believed because I was pretty much told to. I still remember the DAY I looked up from my bible and stopped telling myself I believed something that in fact I did not. I notice that actually a lot of so called "believers" are actually people who were like me. My view is that believing in something is fine and not believing is fine- but fooling yourself is not fine. Fooling yourself is harmful to your spirit regardless of what your beliefs are.

well after much much years of unanswered questions about god and Christianity and a several hour conversation of my Friend trying to answer my questions but getting confused when she cant answer half of them and telling me constantly that i should just know and i shouldn't deny god. i decided upon the wonderful life of being an atheist.

i do not feel empty. i feel More like i am my own person and i can be who i want to be without fol owing a crowd and feeling like anything i do wrong i have to answer for.

my non belief has made me alto more clever i would say, by researching into science i have LentNTo much and i also think it has affected me by making me alot more independant in my decisions on how i go about my life.

infact i feel much happier being atheist because science has answered all my questions wheras religion always gave me alot of hmm well the bible sais this quote (which has nothing to do with my question)

so yeah.

Non belief is not a state. This makes Belief the normal natural state and it is clearly not.

I am able to relax. Religion is based around fear and is not healthy.

I'm a forth gen atheist so I can't comment.
BUT I do admire those who were able to break free of all that programming cos it must have taken courage to go against everything 'known' as truth.

I felt emptiness for about three weeks, which was to be expected after 22 years of complete acceptance. However, it was never all-consuming, or even an emptiness of any depth. That was soon replaced by the wonder of being able to think from outside the confines of, and free of the strictures of religion. That has to be experienced to be appreciated. One is suddenly able to explore and entertain ideas that simply never presented themselves, because they challenged the 'faith' in some way. I still relish that freedom, which is impossible to explain to anyone who believes in gods.
