Default Why are we atheists generally such kind and generous people?

Why is that?

Because when we do good things it's not because we want a reward or because we fear punishment. When we do good things, it's because doing good things is the right thing to do.

Most atheists want evidence for their beliefs, and since I am an atheist, this is no different.

Provide statistics / psychological studies, etc. etc. Or else don't bother asking useless questions.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me I see it as the more people I help, the bigger mark I leave on the world. So when I die only my being ceases, my memory and contribution to humankind lives on.

It is obvious that what you say is true, because atheists don't rule the world.

I actually think that atheists are very kind, very caring, very empathetic. Christians paint atheists as devil worshipers because that is where we fit into their worldview. Atheists, on the other hand, are often hesitant even to try to shake Christians' foundations, so much so that most Atheists are "in the closet." I think this is because atheists are people just like Christians are people. People seem to care about other people.

I know that I personally feel this way. I feel confident enough to be able to DE convert any christian I meet. At the same time, I do not like to engage Christians in theological issues, because I know that most Christians would not be able to adjust to life outside of their current world view (either because all their friends, etc are Christians, or because they simply can't accept the idea that life is still beautiful without God).

So yes, we are quite kind

Heh.

(I'm not an atheist, by the way)

It is because you have no envious feelings associated with having the one and only way to enlightenment (God, heaven, Jesus, salvation, whatever). You simply reject the cause of the holier-than-thou attitude expressed by many religious people.
