Atheists, what need do you fulfil in trying to destroy people's belief in God?
If somebody is terminally ill from cancer, maybe even a child, but they take some comfort from believing that there is something painless beyond this life. Why would you wish to take that comfort from them?
Will that feel like an achievement to you?
Why bait the believers at all? They aren't going to become atheists.
For some, terminal illness lasts a long time.
You see, the big mouthed Atheists are as offensive as the Fundy's who tell everyone that they are going to Hell.
Why are you even bothered about others beliefs on here enough to try to start an argument about it?
A lack of evidence doesn't equate to evidence of non-existence. It just means there's no physical evidence.

Stem cell research and treatment are an ethical debate. Aborted fetus' have already been killed so to save a life or multitude of lives, stem cells should be used. But the risk of potent viruses as a result of DNA interaction is a big worry for scientists. I'm sorry for the loss of your father.
I have no problem if people choose to believe it as long as they admit that the evidence strongly points against it. I can deal with disagreement. I can't deal with direct denial of science.
No, I'll do something about it. Instead of praying, I'll go work my ass off and study like hell to cure cancer. God is useless. Your only living a modern life because of innovations, science, hard working inventors.

It's not what they believe. It is why they believe it. Faith flew planes into buildings, it's not just benign nonsense.
Now, if someone is on their death bed and can do no harm to anyone else, I simply don't discuss it. If, however, they are terminal but able to move and act, then they are more dangerous, because they can take others with them with impunity.
Education in logic! Talking about something painless beyond this life has nothing to do with the belief in the Biblical God. It has to do with death, when all systems, including pain, stop at death.
Flying airplanes into buildings for a God that no religion can produce isn't nice. When will the religion killing madness stop? The faiths don't even want to talk about it.
I just want all the hatred that is spewed forth from many of the religions of the world to stop. There is too much bigotry and violence in the world because of religion. I don't really care if people have religious beliefs, just don't impose them on me, judge me, or commit violent acts in your god's name.
Yet it's CHRISTIANS that are always trying to convert ME. I respect religions and what it can do for people - it can give people who need it, hope. I also know how much bad it does for the world.
I have never tried to force someone to believe there is no god. If someone stops believing in god, you can't blame us. They just decided to use some logic.

We don't care about taking away people's beliefs -- you can believe whatever you want. We don't care.
We do, however, care about truth and enjoy engaging in debate since it's usually Christians who are trying to convert us. Aside from that, we take issue with the fact that many Christians in this country are trying to turn their beliefs into legislation, destroying the wall between church and state, and for that we have become a much more public group.
My father died from cancer...he desperately needed a stem cell transplant, but the technology just was not ready in time. I don't know that the backwards attitudes of religious lawmakers placing restrictions on funding for embryonic stem cell research played a part in the medical technology not being as advanced as it could be, but it certainly did not help the situation.
I hate that ignorant religious beliefs stifle the progress of science. I would rather have my dad with us today than the false comfort of an afterlife for which there is no evidence of its existence. If you want atheists to get off your case, stay in your churches and get the f*ck out of the politics of science.
It is equally cruel to make a dying Atheist believes that he will go to hell unless he converts to Christianity as to make a dying Christian believes that heaven and God are just fantasies.

Well, No one can prove there is no god for me, no one. why? I received strong testimony from God. There is a great threat to destroy the Fundamental unit (our family) of our community from homosexual atheist community in the name of rights to sleep with their own sisters and brothers. Gee, that's funny, I've never seen any atheists targeting hospitals and intellectually attacking people on their deathbed to give up "god" or else. Besides probably being harassment, it's ridiculous. What I do see is priests and nuns roaming hospitals targeting people in their beds, and some of those DO give the story that you must repent and go to God/Jesus now or suffer eternal pain and damnation, destruction. Same goes for zealous family members who target those near death with their dogma. So, why are CHRISTIANS so belligerent to Christians on their death beds? Why target those in their final moments with such belligerent behavior. That is totally insensitive and unusual, completely cruel to sit and threaten a dying person with eternal pain awaiting them. Does that feel like an achievement to you??
How is telling the dying that they will go to hell unless they convert a comfort to them? I've never heard of an atheist who wandered through terminal cancer wards dissuading the faithful so I'll just call that a straw man argument and ignore it.
There may very well be something painless beyond this life. However It could just be no longer existing (you don't think therefore you aren't) and I'm sure that that would be painless because your dead. Or it could be something else that surely NO ONE could even comprehend or even imagine (Not necessarily Heaven) I very much doubt the indoctrinated fear and anxiety of whether I did or did not do something the bible said not to and I may go to hell for all eternity, is the most comforting thought for these terminally ill children.

Nobody would begrudge a dying child believing that they were going to some magical, pain-free place when they died. But adults?
As for wanting to end the world's sky-god followings. Imagine that you are surrounded by people pretending that they are dogs, running about barking, pissing against lamp posts, and threatening to bite all who refuse to act like dogs too.....same thing as being surrounded by the religious.

Unfortunately, that belief has resulted in people not acting to help alleviate the person's suffering or to treat the illness. Comforting the family and person suffering would have more to do with curing the illness or treating the injury than telling them that their loved one won't suffer any more.

When it results in somebody dying because people close to them believed that the illness or problem should be treated with faith instead of medicine, I think we all have a reason to argue with them. Ideally starting with "Were you thinking?"

There is also a lack of evidence for Ra and all of the other gods in a slew of other mythologies. Would you regard these ones as worthy of worship too, and irregardless of your answer, on what basis? Here's a hint, once you understand why you don't believe in other gods, you'll understand why we don't believe in your god.
There is also the fact that many of the stories in the Bible are heavily influenced by other religions. I don't even need to use the new testament to prove it either.
As an atheist, you are right to dislike people who attack you because of your beliefs. I do not agree, but that does not mean I do not respect people who do. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, I do not mind what people believe in.
Hmm that's funny I don't recall waking up one day and announcing this my mission in life. Trust me there are much better things I could be doing.

Believe it or not Atheist are actually capable of love and affection. And what sick moo would do that a child's last days.
I would be more concerned of the bat sh^t crazy religious freaks at this kids death bed badgering him in his last minutes saying, "Don't forget to repent or you're going hell".
