Default Do you find it strange that the atheist spends the precious seconds of the only life

Ranting about a being they don't even believe exists? Isn't that a pointless waste of time for one who is convinced he will become worm food and nothing else?

Nah. I enjoy debate, therefore I'm doing what I enjoy. Is there really anything wrong with that?

When Christians stop playing offense in government.

I'll quit playing defense.

Do you find it strange that theists spend the precious seconds of the only life they'll ever have ranting about how a being that doesn't exist exists?

That's a pointless wast of time for someone they'll rise from the dead and end up in a floating kingdom in the sky for eternity... douches.

without the burden of a god i find i am able to be more productive. for example, i could mow the law on Sunday mornings instead of waking up and going to church.

Or, you know, it could be because religious fanatics mess up actual people's actual precious lives and the atheists want them to stop doing that.

Pretty sure atheists don't have a problem with gods, just their rabid followers.

I am an atheist, and I don't rant.

Why do I spend any time in here? Because I hope that I will encourage just a few people to think for themselves, to be rational, and to live a better life, rather than hoping for an eternity in paradise.

Also, I am pretty disgusted by what happens in this world because of, or in the name of religion.

No, I became an atheist because of people "ranting" about there not being a god and I'm glad I listened to them, I'm just trying to pass the message along to other people so they don't have to be drug down by their false beliefs, besides, I really enjoy doing it.

If we weren't voicing our concerns with the brain poisoning going on Christians would establish a Christian theocracy.

I've often wondered this, myself, and the best conclusion I've been able to come up with is that most of them don't like being told any given position of theirs is morally wrong.

Now, I don't believe in dogmatic compulsion, but many atheists seem to react as if they are under such compulsion when they are in no such position.

One answerer said he doesn't like Christian thought in government. Every law is a moral assertion, and in every country that line is drawn. The debate is where the moral line is drawn, not who should get a say in what happens in their own country.

No. I find it strange to live your life adhering to a set of rules that other humans told you is supposed to get you into the next life...which supposedly exists but hey you don't know you just gotta have faith...and like mommy and daddy told you that the afterlife is real...so like...it must be!

THAT is strange. Living your life to the fullest and living for yourself, for humanity, and for this world--that's commendable. at least I can say I didn't need incentive to be a good person. I expect nothing but to die and rot like everyone else...but I STILL care about others and hope to leave a good mark on this world while I'm alive.

How sincere are YOUR beliefs, though?

How much time do Christians spend on a faith they only hold matter-of-faculty, without any true commitment?

We don't rant, we react. You say there is a god and we are going to hell. We react. You force legislation on people removing their basic human rights, we react. You go about killing people in the name of the "god of unconditional love", we react. you rant we don't.

Lil.

Anyone on Yahoo ranting about wasting time expressing an opinion is on the porch of a large glass house throwing stones.

Very good question. One that I can not answer. Then again Atheism is illogical.
