Default Do you think atheism is good for the UK and Europe?

I'm agnostic, but I think Christianity is good for America. I don't want to be anything like our neighbors over the pond. I believe that's a road to ruin.

Yes, and we could use more atheism here in America too. The bible thumping right wing loons are really no different from the violent Muslims they hate.

Yes.

I think it encourages religious discussion in society and that it helps religious communities get along more.

You are free to believe what you wish, unless you live in a Muslim country.

Did I just answer your question?

It has been so far. I assume it will continue to be. Or should we convert just to try to outnumber the Muslims? I'm sure "God" would be thrilled by that motivation!

I think it's good for people who don't believe in god. I wish there were more of us, the world would be a more peaceful place.

I think atheism is as dogmatic as religion, but it places less of a value of life.

Its one of those things that isn't either good or bad. Most importantly religion teaches moral values that are important in all societies and cultures but if moral values can be upheld without religion and by other means then that's fine too.

A strong tradition within a culture will supplant a culture with no tradition at all.

Islam is a very strong tradition. Conversions are swelling in Europe.

As Americans continue to abandon their Christian faith and deride those who do have it, Islam will grow stronger here as well.

The ethically adrift secular culture is no match for Islam. None at all.

atheism is good for everyone. to me it seems like when you're not blaming, or crediting, a higher power you tend to realize you drive yourself. your accomplishments, and your downfalls, are your own.

to be an atheist is to simply not believe in god. it doesn't mean you don't have morals. it doesn't mean you hate people who do believe in god.

I behave more christian-like than a lot of Christians. the only difference is they believe god exists. believing in god doesn't make you any better than the next person. my only problem with, and not all, Christians is that they think that you're going to hell if you don't believe what they do. they want to convert you because they think you need to be "saved". most people don't like that. yeah a lot of religions think this way, but Christianity is pretty much the only religion that tries to get people to follow them.

Like you, I am now an agnostic. However, when I was younger I was an anti-theist. I claimed to know that there was no god and that organized religion was bad for societies in general but as I have gotten old and perhaps a bit wiser, I have changed my opinion. Despite that fact that I don't have a belief in god, I see the good that comes from having the majority of people following a religion like Christianity. Wither there is a god or not, there is still a lot of wisdom in the bible when it comes to how best to live your life. For example, even if someone didn't have a belief in God, it could only benefit them to live their lives by the ten commandments. Granted, there are exceptions to how I feel, but for the most part I now see religion as a positive thing, even if I don't have a believe concerning god.
