Default atheism is not about being negative of god's existance, but about being positive of h

so its not simply disbelief. its saying "he doesn't exist. its %100 that he doesn't exist. there is no slight chance."

those who simply never considered if god exist or not, or questioned it, aren't atheists. they are something else.
Hobbie Horse: if you simply didn't believe, you wouldn't be here discussing, Richard Hawkins and David attending and Charles darwin wouldnt be writing books. and there wouldnt be atheist-theist discussion conventions all around the world. there are all of these because atheists have a statement "god does not exist."

Still wrong.

Edit: Your AD only shows that some atheists also believe there isn't a god as well as not believing there is one/some. This is true. Some atheists also collect stamps, some work in offices and some are rocket scientists. That doesn't somehow make it part of the definition of 'atheist', though.

Atheist = someone who lacks a belief in gods. I'm afraid this isn't a matter of opinion, nor is it up for discussion.

I am an atheist.

I don't believe in a 'god' or in any 'god'.

Why can't you understand a simple proposition?

Why can't you spell existence correctly?

Are you retarded?

EDIT: I am here in full-combat mode because 'Christians' cannot keep their religion out of the schools and out of government. I object to ID/Creationism being taught as science. I am against the idea of the US Army having a spiritual fitness test for people who are paid with my tax dollars. I am against seeing the ten commandments on the walls of public buildings. I don't care what you believe, but keep it to yourself.

99.9+% of atheists would disagree with you. To be an atheist, you only need to lack belief in gods. You do not have to declare with certainty that gods do not exist.

PS - he? eh? Why not she, or it, or them? Seems like someone is stuck on monotheism.

Not true. Only silly atheists will tell you for 100% fact there is no god.
An atheist just doesn't BELIEVE in a god, but doesn't deny the possibility that there could be one (or more).
Big difference

No. Atheism is simply a form of skepticism. How many times do we have to repeat this, atheism is not the 100% certainty that a god does not exist. It's merely that we don't believe sufficient evidence has been presented to justify believing in one, get it?
If you've never considered it, questioned it, or heard of it, you're an atheist. Lack of belief in god (for any reason) you are an atheist by definition.

Would you split hairs to this degree over people who don't believe in the tooth fairy?

No; you don't get to change definitions at will. We just don't believe in deities.

You don't get it.

Atheism is a lack of belief in any deities, including but not limited to your deity.

That's not the definition. Atheism is sometimes separated into strong atheism, meaning the stance that there is no god, or weak atheism, meaning the lack of belief in a god.

Most atheists here are simple disbelievers and won't say that there is absolutely no possibility that any form of a god could possibly exist.

Your additional details don't make sense. Lack of belief does not mean that you never discuss your lack of belief. I can't imagine where you got that idea.

Your statements are incorrect.

They come from a mind indoctrinated into the unsupportable belief that a particular 'god' exists, and one that is incapable of thinking any other way. That's rather sad.

Oh, and whether we believe your superstitions or not, you (believers in those superstitions) exist, and your actions in the world we all share affect us. Usually negatively. Arguing against harmful actions, and the superstitions that motivate them, is valuable and useful, and helps make the world we share a better place.

Peace.
