The Bible says that Christians will suffer more than anyone else, physically, and socially. Period. That has been pr oven in history over and over and over again, to this very day. They will be the ones constantly being attacked and marginalized. Try to prove otherwise.
As the Christian faith is being minimized, the world around us is being morally eroded. I really don't care what anyone thinks, quite frankly. I believe living righteously according to my Christian faith builds my character and sense of accountability, and is a great example to my kids. When the day comes when I die, I will be rewarded for my faith. Besides, if I am wrong about the whole thing, what would I have lost? I would have lived a good, moral and righteous life, and provided a great legacy for my friends and family. However, if I am right (that there is a God and heaven, and Jesus was His Son), I will receive that promise of eternal life: heaven, peace, true happiness, and a party like never before. Once you get to the point of death, there is no turning back in your unbelief, and it would be too late; that would be for eternity. I'd hate to be that guy, who realized he was wrong after all.
Christians suffer physically; heck, we killed the Son of God. He suffered. Millions of Christians die in natural disasters, and martyrdom. The difference is, a Christian knows that death is not the end. Earthquakes, tornadoes, famine, flood; it all happened before, and will happen again. People die, including Christians. Christians are built like everyone else. If they withstood all the physical ailments of life, then people would convert their belief for a carnal reason (physical self preservation), not a true spiritual reason and love of God. It's like a choice between marrying and devoting the rest of your life with a beautiful, sexy woman who I have no real spiritual connection with, versus me marrying a woman who was disfigured, and unable to satisfy me physically, but however is a soul mate, someone I spiritually connect with and truly love. Which is more honorable? Which relationship would be empty, and doomed for failure?
God has us living of our own free will. If God made it easy to be a Christian, then our faith and love of Him would be like living under a Nazi regime. It wouldn't be real love, but fear. He would have a bunch of robots worshiping him. Who wants that? God created everything, whether it was by 'big bangs', or by just saying it into existence; I really don't care. He created it all, including me, a human, his greatest creation. The rest is up to us. This is our proving ground.
As someone who has actually read the Bible, I understand how I will be treated and viewed. It was all written about as what the future holds. It is happening today, everywhere I look and read. That's why I am excited about my faith. It was foretold, and now is being confirmed, with every political, economic and moral shift being demonstrated in our world. The Bible PROMISED things will get worse. Can you prove otherwise? Therefore, if I was warned, why should I be surprised, afraid or angry? I live life to the fullest, raise my kids to love life, have a cold beer on the lake, love my wife unconditionally, listen to my Beatle and Neil Young collection, and give like it has been given to me. I also live with a wary and understanding eye, without fear or trepidation. I'm free. It's truly cool!
And for all you 'Christians' that blame tragedy on the unbelief of the people, get a life! The earth is as it is, and will be. There's no such thing as karma, luck or curses. Praying to statues and little pictures of saints won't protect you, either. Hating someone who does not believe is not the answer, as Jesus lived for those who do not want to believe. It's your belief or unbelief that will determine your final path. Disaster strikes everyone at one level or another; it's how we react to the situation that determines our true character and commitment to our faith. Otherwise, it would all be worthless and meaningless. Funny...God's seems to exist when something bad happens; when something great happens, God never existed.
?If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you.? John 15:18-20 NIV
?In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.? 2 Timothy 3:12 NIV
