Default Why do Christians keep insisting that Hitler was an atheist, given that he often invo

His book Mein Khamp repeatedly mentions God and Jesus in a positive light, he lived and died a Roman Catholic in good standing (he was never excommunicated!!!), he asked his close lieutenants to remain loyal Catholics, his SS officers had God with us on their belt buckles, Germany was a Christian nation and would never have accepted a atheist leader, his spokesmen said things like Hitler's word is God's law, etc, etc...

Christians are not too bright
They said Atheists was the ones who made everyone believed the earth was flat, but really it was them who thought the world was flat and enforce that on to people who will argue that fact

They will twist any facts in their favor

"The Catholic Church considered the Jews pestilent for fifteen hundred years, put them in ghettos, etc, because it recognized the Jews for what they were".... I recognize the representatives of this race as pestilent for the state and for the church and perhaps I am thereby doing Christianity a great service by pushing them out of schools and public functions"

-Adolf Hitler, 26 April 1933, [cited from Richard Steigmann-Gall's The Holy Reich]

"In this world him who does not abandon himself the Almighty will not desert. Him who helps himself will the Almighty always also help; He will show him the way by which he can gain his rights, his freedom, and therefore his future."

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Hamburg on 20 March 1936

It's a very black and white view of the world. If you're not a Christian in the way they accept, you're an atheist.

Hitler hated atheism, shut down the Freethinker's Society and bragged about ridding Germany of the scourge of atheism. How anyone can think he was an atheist is beyond me.

EDIT: Uh, Peach, where have you been?

Here's just a small sampling:

"The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press-- in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of Liberal excess during the past years."

-Adolph Hitler

"And to that charge I can answer: In the first place it is Christians and not international atheists who now stand at the head of Germany. I do not merely talk of Christianity, no, I also profess that I will never ally myself with the parties which destroy Christianity. If many wish today to take threatened Christianity under their protection, where, I would ask, was Christianity for them in these fourteen years when they went arm in arm with atheism? No, never and at no time was greater internal damage done to Christianity than in these 14 years when a party, theoretically Christian, sat with those who denied God in one and the same Government."

-Adolf Hitler, speech delivered at Stuttgart, February 15, 1933

"The Government of the Reich, which regards Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation, attaches the greatest value to friendly relations with the Holy See, and is endeavoring to develop them."

-Adolf Hitler, speech to the Reichstag, 23 March 1933

he killed. God tells us not to murder. Also just because people use God in their speech doesn't mean he approves of them. God will judge him properly.

Oh my goodness, sweet child, check out the Nazi involvement in the occult. The swastika is basically a distorted cross, for heavens sake.

They were sick mother******, not Christians. Evil incarnate.

You must always judge an organization by the philosophy that the organization promotes, rather than the actions of an individual member of that organization.

Even if Hitler was Catholic, it has no standing on the judgment of Catholicism or Christianity in general any more than I can judge Atheism through the actions of Joseph Stalin.

How many times is this question going to be asked? Someone else asked this same question at least 3-4 times previously.

Just because someone says they are Christian doesn't mean they are. Wanna know what a real Christian looks like? Look at their fruit. (Matthew 7:16)

HAHAHAHA belief in God or Jesus is revealed by a person's actions, not what they say. And I'm sick of this insistence that because someone uses the word god they are insinuating the Christian God. You can make a god out of anything in life. I could make a god out of the candlestick on my dresser. I could claim it has powers, I could spend time worshiping it. I could devote more time to my god candlestick than I do anything else in my life. I could ask it questions, and believe it gave me answers and go out and live life by what my candlestick told me to do. It would be "real" in my mind because I created it to be real. This is what God despises, warns us against and promises His revenge on. Do NOT create any type of God in your life other than Him. And He sees all, knows all and watches all we do. If He sees we spend more time on a computer than doing His works, He will know that computer is a god we have put before Him.

Hitler's god was apparent in his actions. His god was himself, his own evil and psychologically twisted desires for power, his obsession with the human body and how far it could be tortured before death. I don't give a crap what he claimed in his speeches...his actions showed who his true god was. Maybe it WAS the candlestick on his dresser.......

I don't believe Hitler was an atheist. After reading a book about Bonhoeffer (Bonhoeffer Paster, Martyr, Prohpet, Spy by Eric Metaxas) , it appears Hitler wrongly wanted to change Christian doctrine to reflect Nazism. Check out my review:
