Default Atheists, if this happened to you will you become a theist?

You have a dream in your sleep good or bad. But it happens in your life as you seen it on your dreams. If this happens, you will just close your eyes and pray to god. will you do that?

No. I'd believe I was psychic before something like this made me believe in any god/s.

No. Why would DEA VI be evidence for a God?

No. Reason why???? Because that's exactly what theists do - try to tie every day incidents and coincidences into "oh wow god so did that, I had a dream about it" etc etc. There is no god, coincidences are a reality.

No, not at all. Dreams prove nothing. Not only that, given the number of people on the planet statistically a certain number will have events from their dreams mirrored in reality the next day.

And dreams which may or may not turn into reality connect to gods in what way exactly?

No.

It has happened. It's not hard to take all the evidence around you and make some prediction from it. I've done this in dreams and consciously. The older I get the more it happens.

I don't think I'm anything special. It's just my mind working stuff out.

Are believers really based upon such things?
In it's simplest form, that's like you buy a hat so predict a warmer head.

That's probably the stupidest thing I heard all day, become a theist because of a dream. Don't worry there is still time, some one might just say something even dumber than that.

I'm atheist and I pray sometimes: I know it's my mind carrying out the hypnotic suggestion if I just put my brain in alpha or theta. Therefore prayer works when done right. See I can scientifically explain it but when you people pray and it doesn't come true you sigh and go "aw! I guess it wasn't god's will! *sighs* I guess god hates me!" You sound like my mother. Just read about hypnosis, auto-suggestion and the subconscious mind. Might as well face it: we're all alone and no one cares. I can build myself a god out of gingerbread and snow but it will melt and get moldy or both. I'd rather face reality: when you die that's it. End of story so enjoy it now. And by enjoy it I do mean calculus and writing and research. I'm not the party/drugs type. Just me. Atheists just cannot defy a god we don't believe in. Try the death satanists, the other branch of your same religion!

A dream is a dream. It has nothing to do with reality.

do you mean DEA VI? no, when your description occurs is not really happening, it's your perception of the occurrence that you relate to DEA VI. God has noting to do with it.

How is that evidence of a god? At most, it is evidence of something I do not understand. To then make the assumption that that something must be a deity would be unsupported by the evidence.

And more likely it is merely coincidence. They do happen, you know. That would depend on how unlikely the events I dreamed would otherwise be...

Is god the only possible cause of such a dream? If not, then it's merely one hypothesis on a list of explanations, many of which would seem much more likely.

I would have to have written it down in exact detail between the dream and the event, and the events in the dream would have to be a non-trivial prediction. And they would have to happen exactly and unequivocally like the dream and the log. And said dreams would have to be consistently right (I've had thousands of dreams that haven't come true). I know too much about dreams, and especially false memories of dreams (they're not as organized as you remember), to jump to the conclusion they're magical. I also have DEA VI a lot, it's not a strange experience that makes me think there's magic. And I know basic statistics and about self-fulfilling "prophesy".

If those conditions were met, controlled for all the other more likely possibilities, I would suspect that magic were real, possibly even becoming a theist. But that doesn't mean that *your* particular god was real, and I certainly wouldn't "just close my eyes and pray to it". Are you stupid or just presumptuous?

No. I have had dreams that have come true but nothing will persuade me a god exists.

This is adhering to the not making sense trend of theist people. Why would a dream cause anyone to believe in any god? Would a weird dream make you believe you hatched out of a giant snake egg? Thank you for more evidence that religious people are scary.
