ok so maybe i dont get atheism completely?

I used to think atheists were people who worshiped the devil CZ when i was little i didn't know there were people who didn't believe in God. i thought it was either God or the devil. So u just dint believe in anything that cant be pr oven basically? No God devil paranormal psychics, etc. You just view these things like everyone else views Santa and the Easter bunny? If Im right about it i dint think people should bash u and say u have no morals. It doesn't make atheists bad people. Let me know if Im wrong

No, atheism is lack of belief in a deity/deities nothing more, nothing less. Whatever else one believes or doesn't believe is completely up to them. Atheism is also not an organization, or a goal.

Ur right, we dint believe in the existence of GOD or the DEVIL. quite a few of us believe in paranormal stuff though. i feel sorry for you to have been brought up with only god or the devil. i did too until i discovered the Internet and the fact that wen i questioned teachers on gods existence they had no answer except faith.

if we do something bad. we feel bad that we did the bad thing and for those who we effected. not because we are looking out for our best future. if anything the morals are stronger CZ you are forced to take responsibility.

Atheist don't believe in deity/s, that's it. They can believe that Santa is real, that Abba Chicana lives under their bed and will get them, that rainbows are made by bacteria, ghosts, big foot, Nessi, that lord Xena is on his way, that the moon is made from cheese, that the sun is a giant lite bulb which a giant switches on and off each day, that the world is flat, that evolution is false, that 1+1= 10,... anything they want, as long as you don't believe in a deity, you are an atheist.

Atheists do not believe in gods or devils or demons or anything supernatural, because like flying saucers, until one lands on the earth and alien beings get out and get on the news, all the fuzzy pictures of things in the sky and the stories of people being captured by them do not provide adequate evidence of proof.

So in a sense these things are like the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. Other than that most of us respect religious people and their churches as long as they mind their manners. BTW you will find atheists and religious people alike who are assholes, but they do not typically represent the majority.

That's it. It does not mean we don't believe in anything, some of us believe in ghosts, some in Witchcraft, some believe in UFOs, we are as individual as any "group" of people. The only thing we all have in common is, we do not believe any god or manifestation of a deity exists.

I thought the same thing when I was really little, because that's how I was indoctrinated. Now, however, I'm an agnostic atheist. I'm open to the notion of God and psychic abilities and the supernatural, but I see no instance up to this point in my life where "God" or "the supernatural" makes as much sense for the explanation of a phenomenon than simple materialistic cause and effect.

Atheism is a lack of belief in a god or gods, the other things such as belief in the paranormal or psychics has nothing to do with atheism and is more of personal belief or disbelief. Thank you for agreeing that someone who is an atheist shouldn't be bashed and are not automatically bad people. Thank you also for acknowledging that we have morals, I appreciate it.

Yes, you're right. Atheists don’t worship the devil – we don’t believe there is a devil, just as we don’t believe there is a god either.

There have been something like 2,500 recorded gods that societies have worshiped in human history and we don’t believe that that any of them really existed.
