Default Are there any logical arguments for atheism?

Please list some valid arguments that support atheism.
@Caboose
Your right. Your argument is valid, but not sound.
@PortG000
These are just gripes against religion. I asked for arguments FOR atheism, not AGAINST religion. That is like saying how great America is by badmouthing France.
@PortG000 again
You are shifting the burden of proof. I was asking for arguments for atheism, and you are telling me that I have to prove that atheism is wrong. The burden of proof rests upon the one making the assertion. End of story. It doesn't matter if the assertion is a negative or affirmative, universal or particular.

Since we have the null hypothesis we don't even have to try until you actually provide some evidence there is a god.

Find any yet????

Ok, then the problem is very simple
1. First you must prove a god exists for atheism to be invalid
1a. anything that can be asserted with little or no evidence can be dismissed just as easily and the extraordinary claims made by any deist will require extraordinary evidences for which religion and the deist can not supply
2. FYI: Science has found god and it truly is all in your mind!
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=104291534
3. Belief is detrimental to rational thought, by R.Ries

FYI these are not gripes against anything they show that religion and god are immoral which are the primary driving forces for having religion to begin with. If you show the foundation for the belief is flawed in religion then what is left is Atheism since there are only two possibilities Theist or Atheist and don't say agnostic because you can be an agnostic theist or atheist.

Salem witch burnings - Christians
Waco Texas - Christians
Jones Town - Christians
KKK - Christians
Nazism - Christians
Adolph Hitler - Catholic
Serbians - Christian
911 - Muslim
Rev. Ted Arthur Haggard - Christian
Sen. Larry Craig - Christian
Rev. Gary Aldridge - Christian

This shows that belief is detrimental to rational thought, by R. Ries

1. People do not have to prove that something does not exist.

Atheism isn't a belief in something, therefore an argument isn't necessary.

The fact that there isn't one shred of evidence for any theism, atheists can't even start to prepare arguments, as atheism is the default stance.

This question is like asking if there is any logical arguments for not believing in unicorns or not believing in dragons.

There is no evidence that supports god, any of them.

All atheists speak the truth.
An atheist said "God doesn't exist."
Therefore, God doesn't exist is a true statement.

Hey, you said "valid," you didn't say "sound."

BTW, I'm aware my structure may be a little screwed up, it's been a while since logic class.

Edit: Hey, I managed to remember something from college! I guess those thousands of dollars didn't go to waste after all.

If I believe in God I will have to repent. I refuse to repent so I choose to believe there is no God and not even search for him.

Too many to name here. That's why people like Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennet, and Sam Harris have written books. If I were to give you one basic argument, though, it's that there is absolutely no evidence supporting the existence of a sentient god.

The simplest one is 'Burden of Proof'. Theists claim a god of some sort exists, so it is up to them to provide evidence that backs up their claim. If they can't, or won't, then there is no reason to believe their claim and remain a non-believer in the existence of gods.

You should not submit yourself or your family to authority that is not verifiable worthy of your allegiance. If someone claims that you should subjugate yourself to a particular power, you should be circumspect by default and demand proof.

Atheism is based on self serving bias about man's existence. It denies all true science and geology in favor of foolishness. No factual support at all.

You're attempting to shift the burden. Theists are the ones making the claim, they are the ones with the burden of proof.

List some valid arguments that support a-self-transforming-machine-elf-ism. There's your list.

"If I believe in God I will have to repent. I refuse to repent so I choose to believe there is no God and not even search for him."
Weak straw man, poser.

Most of us atheists didn't choose to be non-believers. We just can't force ourselves to believe in magic beings in the sky who grant wishes.

There are only logical arguments for atheism. If you're looking for lack of logic, you want religion.
Atheism says there is no god. Why do you need "valid arguments" to support something that isn't there? You require logical arguments to support theism--and good luck with that, because there aren't any.

Atheism is not argued for, is a state you accept when you reject the existence of God. You reject the existence of God due to there being no evidence. Hope that helps.

FOR atheism? Ok... It is better to know that you are not going to live forever and try to make every day count and create the best you can right now on earth than live a lie and leave a mess behind for children who did not ask to be born.

So many frauds in religion that it must be fraudulent by design.

So many denominations someone must be wrong.

It is a generally known fact that truly religious people talk to themselves, fear Hell, and tend to have something in their lives that they use religion to overcompensate with. Who needs that life?

Sexual shame, sexual abuse, sexual misinformation, the whole religion game .

The mental capacity or lack thereof of religious extremists.

And oh yeah... NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER!

How am I doing?

Atheism is the lack of belief a theistic god, we don't need arguments. Just like every living person who doesn't believe in leprechauns, Odin or mole people doesn't really need to explain why they don't.

First off, do you understand the Definition of Atheism?

I think if you fully understood the Definition you would not need to ask the question.

A person can believe anything he or she wants to believe.

Some people believe in Jesus, Some people believe in Mohammad, some people believe in Buda. and the list goes on and one. Some people chose not to be brainwashed and do not believe in any form of religion at all.

There would be NO SCIENCE if we all just swallowed the Bible or Qu'aran etc. Look around, look at what you have because of science. Are you willing to going back to living in a cave? Can you live without the computer you are now using? Can you live without modern medicine? Can you live thinking that the world is flat? Can you live without ever flying somewhere?....Religion didn't give us anything and in fact impeded the advancements in the earlier days of science. It's funny but Christians came to north America and probably thought the Indian Medicine man was a lost soul. But in reality both are just religions.

No, I'm afraid there are not. One would be in the unsavory position of having to prove a negative to make it logical to be an atheist.

However, being an agnostic has a lot more going for it. In a sense, there are no true atheists. There are only agnostics and anti-theists.

gods are generally perceived as jealous.

nobody can be jealous about you if you did not give to anyone

being atheist is a pascal wager for multiple gods, mutually jealous and equally supported by evidence.

There are none. No one can prove God exists, because no one can find heaven. No one can prove atheists are right, because no one can prove God doesn't exist. Science does not disprove God. God won't come forward and say, "hello, poom right here, idiots!". All religious people have is a man made book about god. All atheists have is a disbelief of its contents.

Am I making sense? Probably not. lol! I'll put it this way...I've seen the prayers of some people answered in a way that makes me believe a god's existence is possible. BUT, I've been a witness to things that tell me there's no way in any supposed hell there is a god of any kind.

Either way, an atheist's beliefs alone wouldn't convince me god doesn't exist. No matter how rude or condescending they may get. And they can be rather brash when trying to disprove god.
