Do you think atheists are evil, immoral, or involved with satan?
Wow. I am really pleasantly surprised. I expected a ton of posts about how they lack morals. I'm an atheist myself and have seen some interesting statements on the net. There were so many fundamentalists here that I thought there might be a lot of people who had that atheist=evil train of thought.
Thanks!!!!!
no...they have simply chosen to believe that there isn't a higher power governing us. and you can't blame them considering there isn't any tangible proof that there is a higher power
I think Atheists are inherently good, display responsible morality and are involved with reason.
Atheists:
1) Think for themselves.
2) Evaluate the REAL consequences for their actions.
3) Involved in furthering the cause of mankind
4) Know that if they screw up, no God will fix things up, so that's why they act responsibly.
5) Use logic, reasoning, rationality.
6) Have a NON-GUILTY genuine interest in mankind, as opposed to Christians who need to be pushed by the fear of hell-fire.
Atheist can be much better people than Christians or any other believer because they do so out of pure interest for mankind and not because they will have a "reward" in heaven nor because they fear hell.
They use logic, rationality and reason and their guts feeling to know what's "right" and what's "wrong", so they are always in control of themselves, they can NEVER be manipulated by religion to do monstrous things because they don't act on blind faith.
True responsible morality is one which always questions and comes up with it's own logical conclusions.
some probably are, some may not be. but there should not be a such thing as an atheist in the first place.
and if they believe in Satan, they must believe in God.
How could they be involved with Satan? They don't believe in him.
If someone is actually thinking through their beliefs and deciding what is logically right, how could it be evil or immoral. The only real evil is not questioning.
No, well I believe everyone is immoral including myself but I was an atheist for a while and an agnostic for a while but I wasn't a "bad person" Im a Christian now and still not a bad person... go figure
2Th 2:10 And with all desirableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Atheists don't believe in a higher power, therefore, they also don't believe in the antithesis of one. This would be Satan. So, my answer is "no." Atheists are not immoral because all morals are not based for every person on religious aspects. Some are just tradition and upbringing and just because they may have been atheist or converted later, it does not mean they are evil or bad mannered. I believe atheists just believe the we as a human race just are and then later aren't.
No, I do not think there is anything evil about an atheist. However, I have no doubt about the existence of a higher power. I will graduate this semester as an Environmental Engineer and I can not believe that all the things in this world happened by chance. The God I worship is this awesome Engineer responsible for all things great and small.
[After thought: My vote goes with Neurofractal who put my thoughts so elegantly... thanks Neurofractal, but please get out of my head ]
By definition an Athiest can not be involved with Satan as that would imp lie a belief in a supernatural entity.
As you seem to be asking from a Christian point of view and evil is inherently the Devils domain then the same argument holds.
As for immoral I donate anonymously to charities, I care about the environment and try to help people where ever I see help is needed. And what is more I have no fears of eternal damnation making me do these things... I do them because i like to do them no out of a sense of belief... It's a back wads world we live in... sigh.
What I can't stand is moralistic religious(did I make that up?) who think that morality is their sole domain and property, if you think that then you are deluded and have a low moral standing because you can't see good in others who are different to you.
Another point is that there are a lot of evil, immoral Christians out there... and again if evil is the sole domain of the Devil then they are also involved with the devil.... confusing this ain't it
I hope you don't fit that category

To answer a few of the people above who see to have judged me and my fellow atheists:
Ummm.... I don't, choose not to "believe that there isn't a higher power governing us" "I KNOW OF NO HIGHER POWER" that is the point there is no belief involved
Trust me if on the off chance something does exist (which with my understanding of the universe around me I give a chance of 0%) that created this world (and by the way let's us fight wars in its name) reveals itself to me I will turn the other check and run away... I have no desire to spend eternity bowing before its throne praising its name... forever is a long time... I get bored easily
Nope nothing happens by chance in the religeous version of the world god created everything the wars, the hate, the disease and pain and before you say the devil does that... god created him (his most beloved angel)... and before you say but he rebeled and turned to hatred and evil... god created the spark of soul that is in him and in you if that is what you choose to believe.... believe it all or nothing at all..... YOUR GOD CREATED EVERYTHING... not just the nice stuff... if you say he gave you free will then that will he created and it is flawed because some if not all are evil.... this could go on so I will stop here
Neurofractal is right. Stacie, go to the library and read some more. Answerator, thank you for clarifying to Stacie. And Cordian99, you are not evil, immoral, or involved with Satan, but you're just an ignorant buffoons or buff on if you're male.
By the way, not all atheist are good, but they're not generally bad. Now that's logic101 for you whoever you are that asked this very stupid question.
