Default Who's an Atheist/open-minded person and wants to talk to me? Haha, read details:?

I got this answer on a totally unrelated question:

"I've seen your answers to religious questions and I find it unacceptable as well as repulsive.
If you don't believe in the christian faith then that is your business but please don't answer christian related questions with your anti-christian slurs and I am not alone on this because we Christians like to communicate with each other even on Yahoo! Answers and we don't want your non-believing crap and all that I will say about you being a teacher [...]
Amen!,Praise the Lord!"
From Fearless Warrior.

Now, I'm pretty darn accepting and don't tend to insult Christians IRL, because they don't outwardly offend me like many people on this site have. (BTW, sorry if you're a Christian and I have offended you and you really have no problem with me) But! Apparently Christians talk behind our back about how sinful we are, who wants to talk about behind their back? We'll come up with something good.
David_in_milwaukee-
Thank you. Reasonable, unbiased questions tend to get answers that reflect the same, I can only imagine those are the kind of questions you've asked.
I'm glad we can disagree and still get along, I do appreciate civil conversation, however I've fond so many people out here that are so ready to bash my ideals and ask obviously skewed questions, I tend to fight back with my usual sarcasm. I'm glad I haven't offended you, and I hope I don't.
"You idiots want to accuse Christians of judging then before you go pointing fingers at me and other Christians then you need to take a good look at yourself."

Hahaha, he called me an idiot and went right into how I've accused Christians of judging me Bahama. Oh what a hypocrite! I think pagan earth girl is right, you, my dear, are no model Christian. Have a nice day! You're going to hell with me!
Hahaha, I've gotta say, to outta towners, I do have an incurably cute accent. (Otherwise I just talk normally, haha)
Oh, and you're right David!
"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Mat. 5:28
I'm quite handy with a Bible.

I've seen the stuff Fearless Warrior writes in lieu of answers and I think he has no idea what Christianity is all about. I've met real Christians and they practice what Christ taught, know, all that "judge not" stuff that Fearless has forgotten about. Just ignore Fearless. Someday he may actually open his bible and read it instead of thumping it. The true Christians here do not automatically condemn us pagans or atheists to hell, nor do they judge us. They simply answer our questions and read our answers. They understand that people of different faiths and beliefs have GOT to have a peaceful interchange of ideas in order to bring about world peace. Fearless Warrior has boxed himself into a little airless box of self-defense and prickly attitude. I hope he learns to lighten up someday.

Wow, a pretty broad statement, and no one asked if they could speak for me.

I am Catholic and open minded on a lot of things. I ask and answer questions here and have been fairly pleased with some of the answers (other are not good, but hey you ask a diverse group of people anything and you will get bad answers).

I think you have even answered one of my questions. I may not have agreed with it 100%, but I valued your opinion, and never thought that you were being offensive and spreading your "non-believing crap", you weren't repulsive and your answer was more than acceptable.

I am sorry if a Christian has offended you. We, Christians, should strive NOT to offend anyone. Specifically, I apologies if I have offended you here. You certainly seem intelligent and knowledgeable in the answers you have given and are more than welcome to answer anything I post.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am running late for my "Let's bash all the UN-believers" meeting. :-)

** Edit for Fearless Warrior **

What a hypocrite you are. I will refer you to your own answer at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aqu8WXhtfIwLJfb_jyLFqhLsy6IX?qid=100602 1002561

Some kind of Christian you are. . . You have committed Adultry in your heart. You should really start to "practice what you preach".

Specifically "fearless" you said she was HOT. Not the same as pretty, is it?

I know alto more about the christian faith than any of you heathens will know because unlike you I do read the bible,I pray, and I seek God's wisdom and I receive God's wisdom too.
You heathens are all the time bashing Christians and accusing us of being judgmental and being hypocrites then not only do I think but I know that you christian bashes and non-believers are not only the Biggest fools of them all but you are also all the biggest hypocrites as well.
You idiots want to accuse Christians of judging then before you go pointing fingers at me and other Christians then you need to take a good look at yourself.
I have every right to be on Yahoo Answers and I have every right to defend my faith in the Lord.
Sorry,I'm not a lay down and take it kind of christian and I will never sugar coat anything that God says and if God says that those who live in sin are unclean and wicked then that is exactly what you are and if God says that those who do not believe in him are fools then that is exactly what you are,A FOOL!
Have A Nice Day and Praise The Lord Anyway!

Well, will just have to wait and see about that want we?

David,if I am a hypocrite then so are you and everyone else I didn't say that I wanted to do anything with the girl I just said in my own words that I thought she was pretty.
David, you need to really look before you leap

Kristy,
I would first like to say that yes i am a Christian, that has found her resting place after a long journey.
secondly, you re one of my favorite people on this site. (I even wrote about you in one of my questions recently.) I find your answers and thoughts to be very intellectually sound. i see you as a complex and dynamic personality. unlike so many absolute angry nuts on this sight. claiming to be a Christian isn't the final sale for me, and i just cringe when people try to represent with/by anger, finger pointing, stereotyping and judging. Like Heathen calling? whats up with that?
I have learned in my short time on this site, that is truly filled with those just dancing to the beat of their own drum, i enjoy the diversity, and have learned quite a bit. Trust me Ode love nothing more than to share this love i feel, and what works for me, but its just not always appropriate, or respectful and when being defensive further opens your heart up to negativity about others, why would you take that stand, not caring if your hurting, offending or disrespecting others is truly evil.

Smashingdon, i just have the urge to say that in my snootiest British accent, Smashingdon darling, i think you could honestly have a point.

and bio geek..im a fan., just know threes a pregnant lady out there some where that thinks your the the coolest geek ever. (Ode love to play cupid for you and Kristy, shes cute huh?) wink wink.

and thanks for not letting me be the last answer. :-)

guess what? people who act unchristian might actually be people who are out to bash Christians and sounding christian like they want to bring a bad name for us, its possible, you know and as far as I have seen the other Christians whom I know in this site, they all have been respectful and have valued others opinions.

I must say, you do come up with the best questions. It is actually refreshing to have a few mentally stimulating one to answer.

I think that people in general get very insecure about their beliefs. I have noticed here that many people are very closed to alternate interpretation. They are looking for agreement not a wide range of opinions. Example: The evolution debate. There are so many questions here that ask about evolution, but in the end, they tend to go with someone who thinks just like them. As a scientist, one thing I have learned is adaptation. While I am very passionate about my beliefs, I find from time to time I must evolve or adapt them to fit the current information or knowledge I am presented with. This is too with both professional work or spiritual thoughts.
I was raised by my parents Christian and dutifully went to church every Sunday, but it was a chore. When I was given the chance at confirmation to make a choice, I choose not to continue. My family was horrified and still think I am he Devil reborn. Alas, I just found, even at age 13 the hypocrisy of it all to be absurd. I toyed with various notions of God, and 'alternative' religions in college. While I feel many aspects of ancient groups like Druids and modern day Wicca appeal to me (I am a environmentalist as well, so I like nature), I ultimately decided organized religion in any form was not for me. I tried to develop my own notion of God. Was it an entity? A force? Sentient? Ultimately, I felt in my heart there was none. Just the laws of the universe that are common amongst us all.
I feel it is critical to be open minded and non-judge mental. Maybe because I am a biologist involved with research, I will happily embrace the unfamiliar and examine it. I will often not like it, but I do respect it. Everyone has a belief and they should. If we were all the same, life would be dull and boring. I draw the line when someone tries to force their beliefs onto others. We can each feel and believe what we want. That is free choice. But if someone comes around and tries to force me to think they way they do, that goes against everything I am. Period.
As for religion, I know plenty of devout Christians. Even some that know the Bible word for word. They all have the typical foibles of being human. Some are far worse. Adultrurous, cheating on exams, cheat the IRS, lie, steal , etc. Thgese are people that would be truly offended if they were called anything but model Christians. Yet they live a far less moral existence than I do.
It really is the hypocrisy here that makes it all so absurd. The insecurity in their own belief that they have to denigrate others to make themselves feel better about their own beliefs. I have studied many a religion, and most have forgiveness, compassion and kindness as the main tenets of the faith. Rarely do you see hatred, vileness, and such promoted. Yet I see that here from devout believers all the time. Very sad.
So just let the comments roll on by, keep doing what you be live in and thinking the way you do. I am confident there are plenty of Christians that are open minded and accepting of others, and what is expressed here is just a small subset of zealots that are hoping to reaffirm their faith just as a bully terrorizes kids in the played.

Wow!! What to say?? I'm truly sorry that you had to experience such attitude from some one that says they are christian. I want you to know that most of us that ARE christian respect what others be live. i will only share my faith with those that want to hear it. I won't force anyone or call them names CZ I believe that isn't the way God intended for us to spread his word.

Please believe it when I say that not all of us are like him. I hope that you have a bless day!!

I love it. Religious people really get hot under the collar when you try to debate with them over religion. It's hard to do when their answers are based on folklore. I think it's funny how god is also the answer to anything unknown. It's like they think that since I don't believe in religion that precludes me to being student of theology. I like your views Kristy!

My best regards to a fellow atheist. Fortunately I have good friends who are strict Catholics, Muslims, Wiccans, Jews, etc. I judge people by how they treat their fellow human being. Kindness, unselfishness, and fairness are the highest ideals to me. Life is so complex that it is difficult to avoid stepping on some toes; all we can do is try to be the best person we can. It bothers me when people who believe in god tell me that I really do believe in god. They are being disrespectful of me

I'm an atheistic and open-minded person, but I honestly only enjoy intellectually stimulating, and personally challenging conversation with blonds from Texas. So......
Call me.
