Atheists only- If you thought about joining a Christian Church, which Church would yo
Using the process of elimination and deductive reasoning, which Church would you believe is the one founded by Jesus and was therefore given authority by Jesus to authentically and reliably interpret Christian scripture and give the most accurate and complete picture of the real Jesus and His doctrine?
There is the Catholic Church or the tens of thousands of Protestant denominations to choose from.
By the way, I used to have no religion. But I don't remember anyone asking me if I believed in God during that time, so I'm not sure what I would have answered. Would anyone consider me a former atheist?
Some have answered that they don't consider me to be a former atheist because I did not used to reject the existence of God, I just did not ever think about it and did not have any faith in God.
But when someone brings up the point that no one can prove that God does NOT exist and it therefore takes faith to BELIEVE that God does not exist, they often will say that they don't have to disprove the existence of God because they supposedly only have no faith that God exists.
This seems like they want to have it both ways.
Believers in God acknowledge that it takes faith to believe in God, so why can't people who are believers in God's non-existence also acknowledge that they are relying on faith?
By the way, I'm not saying that all atheists are the same.
Someone answered, "Evangelical free church. They are more laid back."
I wasn't asking, "what do you want Jesus to be like?"
I was asking people how they would determine which Church has the real Jesus whether or not the teachings of the real Jesus and His Church might be hard to accept.
When I decided to become Christian, I was only interested in finding out who the real Jesus is and which Church was founded by Him with a direct historical line of authority going back to Jesus and His 12 apostles.
I am an atheist and so it doesn't matter which church i join oz when the mass is going on ill probably be listening to songs or playing on a game boy...its nothing more than a building for me.
Whichever one doesn't put man in between God and me. I prefer to read the bible, interpret it on my own and live a good, rewarding life based on my readings.
If I were an atheist I'd join a Mennonite church, because they are at least concerned about social justice issues... other groups are as well, but not nearly to the extent that most Mennonite churches are.
i am actually a practicing satanist but an ex Mormon and also ex roman catholic.as long as u are at the top of the church hierarchy then it doesn't matter which religion u choose as u are guaranteed to be rich.the money grabbing b8 studs.all religion revolves round money and all wars are about religion.PHEW!had to get that off my chest.1
I am a catholic already and just answered you to say some of the answers folk are giving to this are a clear sign they never fully understood your question in the first place.
God is everywhere so here I am a witness of him. So here's your chance to accept Jesus Christ into your heart.
Say this if you want to: "Lord Jesus, I give myself to You, for You to be my only Lord and
Saviour. I renounce and repudiate all other loyalties, and
I desire no other Lord but You. Please come into me and
take control of my life. Mold me to Your will and to Your
use. I ask that You drive out all other spirits which conflict
with You in any way. I want to belong only to You, to be subject
only to You. I make this prayer to You, in Your name, the name of
Jesus. Amen."
I wouldn't join a church. I think they all got it wrong. Now, I'm not really an atheist, but I haven't decided what to believe and see no reason to. I'll find out when I die, just as all the different religious folk will when we each die. Also, you aren't truly considered atheist unless you really didn't believe in god. If you didn't know if you should or not, then you weren't.
I used to be an atheist..I got saved in a Baptist church..but the Lord led me to a Penecostal church a month later..and still going strong..Glory..Alleluia
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ..
And here's your chance to accept Vade King into your heart!
Say this if you want to:
"Vade, I give myself to You, for Your music is most righteous and you're really hot.
I renounce and repudiate all other loyalties, and I desire no other Vade but You. Please "come into me" and take control of my life because I'm a horrible decision maker. Mold me to Your will and to Your use (including in the bedroom.) I ask that You drive out all other people who conflict with You in any way (bloody naysayers.) I want to belong only to You, because you make the best darn cup of coffee this side of Starbucks. I make this prayer to You, in Your name, the name of Vade. Yehaw."
Humanism is a form of Atheism and a much better alternative than Christianity for those who cannot find faith in Jesus (or any other organized Deity based religion) but still believe that an ethical caring life is possible.

You shouldn't be asking this question of atheist because obviously since they're atheist, it's not important to them. I'm an agnostic and I never go to church, so I don't care.
Your question is premised on the authenticity of the bible and if you believe the bible to be true, then you need to decide whether you consider Roman Emperor Constantine to be God, or whether you consider King James VI & I to be God.
The "word of God" was invented by Roman Emperor Constantine in 325 CE (ad) and was modified by King James VI & I in 1611.
So, which do you consider God?
If the Jesus story is even mostly true, any religion he invented died long ago, so you are out of luck so far as finding the original religion he invented, if any.
