Default I have a question on the Baha'i Faith. Plz advise?

I live next to one of their Church's. And i had never previously known antingnabout it. I ignorantly assumed that it was some Muslim faith of some sort.
Never really gave it a second thought.

Well, Im an Insurance Agent, and I just spoke with someone at the Baha'i Faith Church.
Well. After the conversation, i was thinking about it. And became interested.

So i look it up.
(First, back story. I am not religious. I have always lived my life by karma. Not any religious standard. Simply because I strongly disagree with all of them.
There are good points. But as a whole, I dint agree.)

Well. I just read this big article on the Baha'i Faith.

And it makes perfect sense. So far.

Every principal that they believe in.(that i have learned about so far) make perfect sense to me. Or rather. They are things that i have always believed.

I fell like My lack of faith, (which has been a defining part of my personality) has been shaken to the core.
It makes me feel uneasy

Think about it carefully. If you really think it's what's right for you, then convert. It's ultimately your decision, not anyone Else's.

I briefly toyed with the idea of converting to Baha'ism myself, as it is certainly the most peaceful and tolerant religion out there. If there was a true religion, it would certainly look a lot like the Baha'i Faith. However, I still don't think the idea of God is plausible, so I decided to remain an atheist.

But that's my story. What you want to do is up to you.

Bahia's are pretty cool. my boyfriends parents are Baha'i. they are kinda homophobic and don't like holding hands before marriage.. but other than that they are cool.

The Baha'i Faith respects all people and faiths. It's a spiritual path as opposed to a dogmatic one. You don't have to feel uneasy because they're kind of like an UN-religion. By accepting all people, they don't focus on any one. Feel better?

I also have questions about the Baha'i. I went to a Baha'i meeting about 35 years ago. This was before I became a Christian. The people at this meeting believed in salvation through Jesus, but I am told by Christians that the Baha'i do not believe in salvation through Jesus. I would like to have this clarified, and I would also like to learn more about what they believe.

If you come across any who would like to talk over the Internet, please email me.

These people's goal is to make world peace and they truly believe world peace can be accomplished. This is even to the extent of making everyone equal. They believe there should be no one excessively poor or excessively rich. They believe everyone should be the same. They work hard at accomplishing this "perfect equality".

I believe Christianity is the only religion that makes sense and this is why: all other religions other than Christianity claim they are to save themselves. Christianity claims God saves us, which brings me to this point: if you can save yourself, why would you need God? Christianity is the only one that makes sense because God saves his people rather than people saving themselves.

Feel happy, if you find a place where you are comfortable to commune and share philosophies, what can be better?

I don't really know much about the Baha'i faith. However I think it is pretty awesome that something touched you. I felt a similar feeling when I became a Christian. It is like an inner reorganization. You really have to shake it down to build up again. I can understand your uneasiness. I find it moving and beautiful.

To begin with, it's wonderful that you are looking into the Baha'i Faith, or any religion for that matter. Before rushing into anything, consider contacting Baha'is near you (are you in Chicago by any chance?), they would be happy to talk with you and try and answer any questions. Also Baha'is hold firesides where various topics are discussed---everyone is welcome and everyone opinion is respected.

I would just continue reading up (but I would suggest real books or going to WNW.bahai.org) and try and contact Baha'is near you.

Good luck!

Maybe you can ask the Baha'is in your neighborhood and then you could go to a Ruhi course, its very interesting, and you dint have to be a Baha'i to take it , here is a preview on you tube how its like : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiwbNu0qft8
or you could go to a fire sight (i dint know how to spell it :s)
Hope i could help you , please if you have anymore questions, dint hesitate to contact me
