Default Why do people insult the Baha'i Faith when they don't even know about it?

I am a strong believer in the Baha'i faith. I have read other yahoo! questions and answers and seen nasty answers, why?

Because any faith who's name you can use in the following sentence; "Baha'i Bahia's it bagging?" Is just laughable.

I know what you mean. People, please don't insult other religions. They have a right to their opinions just like you.

PS Tell more about this faith of yours. I'm a set Christian, but I find it interesting to look at other people's faiths.

I don't believe I've ever heard anyone on Y!A insulting Baha'i. At least not so much as they insult everything else.

I respect your strong belief in the Baha'i faith.

I know a married couple who are followers of the Baha'i faith. Wonderful people.

I have actually never heard of this religion until now, but I think I know why people insult it. This was taken from Bahia.org:

Bah?'?s believe that Bah??u?Lelah is the Messenger of God for this day. His teachings are the basis of the Bah??? Faith, whose primary aim is the unity of mankind.

That scares Christians. Christians don't like other religions, and moreover they don't like other religions that believe in another messenger of God other than Jesus. Also, a faith other than Christianity that wants to unify mankind. This scares them even more. It's a Christian's mission to get followers, so if they have competition... that's bad. Especially for televangelists.

I know very little about this faith as I just read a little bit on the website. It sounds like a faith that wants to invoke change at the base level of humanity and make people more aware of what they are doing to themselves and to the world. That scares people. People like being ignorant. If they saw what they do to this world and to each other it would crush most people. We all know what people do when they get scared. They start being offensive, cruel, they attack, and in some cases commit crimes against what they are afraid of.

I wish people were more open to other religions and cultures.

Im a Baha'i, the main thing is just ignorance and afraid of the unknown. Maybe no respect.
