It was something 'Abdu'l Baha wrote. It was most likely an oversight, but the Baha'is hold strictly to his writings anyway.

It's totally hypocritical, but I guess they don't care.

EDIT: Apparently it was on purpose. 'Abdu'l Baha said the reason would become clear in the future and that women are spiritually equal to men.

It still sounds like hypocrisy to me, though.

If I remember correctly, the Baha'i believe in Baha'ullah as their last Prophet and it is a Reformist School of Islam, excommunicated by mainline Islam, so, it's not surprising.
