Default Why do Baha'is.......?

1) not like other Baha'i Groups (like Tarbiyat, Orthodox, Reform, etc)

I know that the Tarbiyat, 4Th Guardian Loyal, and Reform Baha'is are cool with the main Baha'is (I'm not sure about Orthodox and BUPC)

2) accept Buddha as a prophet?

Buddha didn't talk about God (the closest thing He did talk about to God were the Devas, which were part of the Cycle of Rebirth) and had different ideas to other prophets mentioned by the faith

3) not allow homosexuals in the faith (or if they do, make sure its very strict)?

I've read some nasty things that Shoghi Effendi wrote about homosexuals (that it is a mental aberration, a sickness to be cured with medicine).

Thanks for answering.... always wondered about those sections of the Baha'i faith.
Thanks for answers //_^

You'd probably have to ask someone who went to a Baha'i school for the detailed answers. I never made it past Jr. Baha'i school.

Baha'is generally accept the founders of all of the "world religions" as manifestations of God. Each of them taught substantially different things, but Baha'is believe that each religion sees a fraction of the Absolutue reality from their own cultural perspectives.

The Baha'is consider their offshoots to be heretics, and that would be why they don't like them. The Orthodox Baha'i don't like the regular Baha'is because the Orthodox think the regular Baha'is have strayed from the correct path (i.e. about accepting gay people, about who Shoghi Effendi's successor was supposed to be, etc.).

Baha'is believe Buddha had something important to say about religion, and that's why they consider him to be a prophet. Even if Buddha didn't believe in god, he was still a mouthpiece for god in the Baha'is' view.

I don't understand why they don't allow gay people. I think that's the most hypocritical thing about the Baha'i Faith. They pride themselves on being progressive and accepting reason, but they still refuse to accept gays, who are not mentally aberrant or sick.
